Cloaktober continues! Our rapier team is warming up with some fundamental “core” actions. Here they’re attacking during their partner’s line change while remaining in measure. A bold attack that’s aided by the target denial and defense the cloak provides. #somervillemass #Massachusetts

She also has used her Excel Fu to help analyze the results of several SCA experiments and projects -- and is always game for showing off some Marozzo or Ghisliero shenanigans. All that's just the tip of the iceberg. She'll formally be inducted into the Order in November. Congrats, Kate! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Kate has become a steadfast competitor in the East Kingdom, with two Sweet 16 appearances in the EK's Rapier Championship the past few years, as well named to the East's Pennsic Rapier Champions Team and it's captain for two years. She's also a former Queen's Rapier Champion.

“When (perhaps by your disgrace) you have enemies that at times are waiting for you, at night as well as during the day, make use of a trick: in the right pocket, bring a little bit of sand, the finest that you can find. When they begin drawing, take the sand and scatter it at the eyes.”

This past weekend at Falling Leaves (a local SCA event), Donovan and I hosted a sharp sword demo. The SCA talks A LOT about blow calibration and what would/wouldn't injure someone — but for 99.99% of folks, we’re making some sweeping assumptions. justinswordfit.com/2026/09/09/t... 🧵
