I really like the juxtaposition of male vs female heliamphora flowers. Left is a newly opened female flower, right is a male flower just a week and a half further into its life. They all bloom as pollen receptive female flowers where over the next few days they slowly transition to pollen production

The second flower spike from the drocera alicae has begun flowering! The stalk is small and the plant does look the happiest because I think we have a pest problem making their way through some of the house and carnivorous plants. Got some pesticide on the way so fingers crossed nobody dies!

Today was the SDCPS monthly meeting! Some super cool plants being sold/given in the raffle and a wonderful talk about light levels and the darlingtonia fens of Oregon! Yall know I couldnt come home without a few plants including my first bromeliad! (More bromeliads to come 👀)

Every morning, im waking up to a new hole thats been dug into my rhubarb’s pot. No clue what it is, but probably a rat or a raccoon. Luckily for me, im setting up a trail cam to watch it for the next few days to see what we see!

One month update. 2 pings died. 1 is currently in the ping hospital. However, the utricularia has exploded and my pygmy drocera has somehow magically revived, no dew though.

Just got back from a wonderful trip to the Sequoia and King’s Canyon National parks. I ended up shooting like 2.5 rolls of film that imma get developed this week! Cant wait to share all the photos of everything we saw
