CBS’s track record of cancelling really good shows in the 50s and 60s was astounding. Started with Bilko and continued with The Twilight Zone and Perry Mason.

Thanks, Erica. The 3 question made sense based on the skills she wants to work on. A “big” lineup with a center TBD and Howard, Collier and McBride each sliding down one spot might address some of their matchup issues.

The undersized Minnesota Lynx struggled against taller, more physical teams. Finding solutions this offseason won’t be easy.
After a stunningly fast first-round playoff loss, it’s clear the Minnesota Lynx need size and depth to better compete next season.

Let parsing season begin: Did Napheesa Collier tip her hand last week about whether she's staying with the #Lynx or testing free agency? Everyone's got an opinion. That, and other key questions, face the Lynx in an off-season that began much earlier than expected. @wnba.com

These folks are already underpaid and overworked. Instead of hiring them some help, they do this. And the AI writing is a disaster.

I'm thinking about our winter women's sports coverage (Frost/PWHL, Gophers sports, pro volleyball teams debuting, etc.) — any particular stories folks want to see? I'm hoping to really spend some thoughtful time with deeper/more complex stories, and am curious what people are curious about!

Kaelen Culpepper seems set at shortstop, though #Twins probably need a veteran glove behind him for insurance. Shelton said club needs better overall defense and more athleticism. Keaschall and Lewis had to learn new positions on the fly, which wasn't optimal.

Probably should have delved more into the #Twins defensive issues, moving infield starters around at midseason because the defense was horrible by every measure. Luke Keaschall figures to remain a corner outfield with Brooks Lee at third, and Royce Lewis at 1st and 2nd.

📬 NEW Extra Innings newsletter: ⚾️ As the Twins roster trends younger, they want better defense to be part of their identity. ⚾️ Walker Jenkins and Adrian Bohorquez were named the Twins’ minor league player and pitcher of the year. Free sign up link: link.email.startribune.com/join/7v1/sig...
The Twins are trending younger, relying more on their latest wave of prospects, but they want defense to be a larger part of their identity. They were the third-worst defense in the majors this year, according to Sports Info Solutions. Seven of the top 10 defensive teams, using the same metrics, made the playoffs.

"It was a point of emphasis this year as we were trying to improve things on the fly, but it's going to be a continued point of emphasis as we go forward," said Jeremy Zoll, the Twins' general manager. "I think we're leaving value on the table right now, as it stands, and we think that's a way to further optimize things."

If the Twins lose Ryan Jeffers in free agency, they may look for a defense-first catcher to fill the void. The Twins were abysmal at stopping opposing teams from stealing bases. The Twins gave up the third-most stolen bases this year (137) and were tied for last in caught stealings (22).

"That’s an area of growth for us, not only at the big leagues but organizationally,” Shelton said. “It’s going to be an area that we are going to focus on. It has been part of conversations with specific people this offseason about improving.”
