"The communications approach will include targeted efforts to promote downtown activity, events, and businesses, with the objective of encouraging workers and visitors who travel to the downtown core to extend their time in the area in order to spread the egress from downtown over a longer period," staff said.

"As workplace attendance increases, the strategy creates an opportunity to build awareness of the significant investments the city and its partners have made to strengthen the downtown experience, including public realm improvements, programming, festivals, and community events such as the Bytown 200 celebrations."

The city will work with Business Improvement Areas and other partners to amplify the campaign.

Staff say the city's communications strategy will focus on providing "timely, clear and actionable travel information" to help commuters plan their trips, communicate "transparently and consistently" about construction and other issues, and use real-time information on transit service and traffic conditions to "support efficient trip planning and reduce avoidable congestion."

I had forgotten how much I hate trying to hit the timing on "Legend of Grimrock"'s "pillars of light" puzzle. Jesus fuck.

Treated myself to a test drive today. And I really like the Ford Mustang Mach-e. I think I'd like the GT trim over the premium (moar powah! Plus the magnetic ride suspension) but this being $10k cdn less does make a strong argument. And it's by no means SLOW.

I love that a dealership worked with the car community for a night like this AND that people pulled their cars out after an hour or so, so that other cars could come in and have their moment, too.

So there's some stuff going on in life right now, and I may move on this a little quicker than I had previously planned. Input and interest (and questions) welcome.
This is a weird one, but for a bunch of reasons, I'm thinking about detailing as a business. I've considered this as a "post retirement" income (and that's weird to say), and I'm considering starting sooner rather than later.

So, there's two groups of people, I figure, reading this.

1] normal people! If that's you, talk to me about what you're willing to pay for an exquisitely detailed vehicle, understanding that you pay more for more extensive results. A serious, deep, deep clean, polish, protect on the exterior, and full interior (seats removed, etc) is likely 6-12 hours depending on condition & size of vehicle, where an exterior wash & basic polish is probably 2 hours.

2] car people! I know MOST of you probably do this yourself as a labour of love. You also know the work/time/effort that goes into it. What are your thoughts? What products do you swear by?

This might be something I consider doing "mobile / come to you" as well.

If you need something done NOW? Talk to me about that, too! I'm always interested in getting things other than my own vehicles to work on. Especially things that are really rough and maybe a little neglected (no judgment - I have a 7 year old, I know how had it is to get to this stuff).

As a background, i started studying and practicing all this, (and buying what I have, which is extensive, in terms of products and tools) fifteen years ago. So while I don't have professional experience, I've got a lot of working on cars in the community, and my own (the Genesis got a full go 2-3x a year, for example).

I'm pretty good at it.

So, your thoughts are helpful. And yeah, if you've got something that's super rough, inside and/or outside, that needs a working over, talk to me, and maybe we can do some adhoc work before I even get this thing going, if I get this thing going.

It genuinely looks like it's going to work. The next bit is transferring to steel (I'm hoping 22 gauge is strong enough). I'm not looking forward to cutting this out with sheers though.
