For example, The PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360 were both PowerPC-based, meanwhile... PS4, PS5 & OG Xbox, and the Xbox One (Release, Series X, and Series S) are x86 based.

thinking about how nintendo never had a consumer x86 based console like the mainstream chips they had was either PowerPC (GameCube, Wii, and Wii U) or ARM (Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, 3DS, DS, and the Gameboy Advance) GB, N64, SNES, and NES don't count.

tl;dr, insert game disc into xbox, xbox gives you digital key to allow you to install the game aswell without the disc inserted resell game disc and that digital key gets moved to another person's account when used, transferring rights to them instead of you, and allowing them to install said game

‍ @bootfloppy.neocities.org · 19h
eve... xbox now gives you a digital key now when you insert a disc so you can download said game on the same or other xbox consoles and you can resell the game disc and it'll transfer the key to the next person who inserts the disc so they can download the game on their consoles instead of you

literally its the same for the Rift S, since they both use OCuLink (SFF-8611), just different wiring to my knowledge. would love to figure out what goes where (and to make a stupid jank ass debug board too lol)

‍ @bootfloppy.neocities.org · 28/09/2026
literally to my knowledge all you need to provide is three things (for example, a Valve Index) * Power * Data * DisplayPort

‍ @bootfloppy.neocities.org · 28/09/2026
i wonder if you can just stuff all 3 requirements of a vr headset into a single usb-c cable to a OCuLink port or that needs a hub inside the cable to do so.

i want to assume its like the regular SteamOS setup where it just auto-logins to SteamOS User and runs Gamescope. but i think there's more going on now as well (since SteamVR/vrcompositor & vrserver has to run their own instances now alongside the steam client) so i would love to figure that out

since apparently some still haven't caught up on this yet: currently, fluxer actively prohibits vibecoded contributions, and their official policy basically boils down to "whatever you do in private is none of our business, but never let that touch our stuff" relevant: github.com/fluxerapp/fl...

‍ @bootfloppy.neocities.org · 25/09/2026
oh thank you lenovo for apparently making the DP ports report like HDMI according to xrandr for reference here's what xrandr reports on my tower computer, do note that DP-x is actually just my DP to HDMI adapters since my monitors do not support displayport

unless someone has gotten the "Intel HD Graphics 630" to work with drm leasing i don't think I can turn a lenovo thinkcentre into a vr streaming box (not the intention but im just fucking around seeing what I can do)
010
‍ @bootfloppy.neocities.org · 24/09/2026
i have been trying to atleast get vr working on something like my thinkcentre but i don't think the intel integrated graphics on linux supports drm leasing lmao

btw this command is just my attempt at getting steamvr to run headless with steam can't exactly figure out how to run it without a full on desktop environment yet since I can't get steamvr to work with gamescope (i have no clue if drm leasing works on gamescope since I can't get it to work myself)
