iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I'm so sorry. Your reviews were the highlight of gaming coverage at The Verge and wherever you land will be lucky to have you.

I'm just not as fan of that appach with a minimap.

000

But it's in the right place relative to the direction I'm moving.

Yes, so it's always facing the same direction I am in the game.

That's a shame. The subtitles in the Infinity Castle were weirdly phrased and stilted at times in a way that pulled me out of the movie. That's been a problem with the last few CR releases.

100

This is how I learned these screenings were happening.

000

I think the reason subtitled screenings account for more of the box office is because there were more subtitled showtimes available after work hours and on weekends than there are dubbed. It's been disappointing as someone who prefers watching action anime dubbed.

Leafblowers. I can't explain why that sound registers as a smell...but it does.

000

That's pretty wild since I'm sure we can all agree that Lost Odyssey is the best Final Fantasy.

020

Gotcha. I think everyone has a platform preference and that DF doesn't currently have anyone on staff who's preference is Xbox, but people who think there's some sort of conspiracy against the platform need to touch grass

000

It definitely could, but all I can speak to is my experience.

000

I'm not really sure how you made that leap. No one said they were out to get Xbox and I'm not out here defending a trillion dollar company. I'm just trying to offer insight into my viewing habits because I used to love all of Digital Foundry's coverage and I'd like to get back to that point.

100

We're getting off topic here. This was about views on Xbox focused videos decreasing. As someone who primarily plays games on that platform recent titles and thumbnails have pushed me away from their channel.

Again, the Series X version isn't just unproblematic. It's a great version of Silent Hill 2 with a performance mode that runs at a higher framerate than both PS5 and PS5 pro. James looking at the consoles like that wasn't necessary either.

100

For starters the Series X version is more than fine and they say as much in the video. It's a clickbait (ragebait?) title and that's already annoying. Now compare the thumbnail for the Xbox Reconfirmation to the one for the next video over with a similar topic but different platform focus.

Side by side thumbnails of Digital Foundry videos showcasing disdain for one platform and excitement for the other.

I don't but there are other shows on there that I've been meaning to watch so I can justify subscribing for a few months (^_^)

000

That sounds awesome!!! I'll check it out this weekend. Thanks for the recommendation 💜

No worries. I stopped watching isekai after seeing slavery apology in several popular titles, but was looking to get back into the genre. I'll do some digging into the source material after the watch party if any of the titles look interesting. Thanks for letting me know!

I'm almost afraid to ask but is there an "Isekai Without Slavery" category?

I hope everyone feels better soon!

QOL features like Play Anywhere and Quick Resume have been game changing too. No pun intended 😅

I can only speak to my experience, but it's been largely positive this gen. Sure Gamepass pricing went up but I've played 45 games this year alone and loved most of them. First party titles like Avowed, South of Midnight, Keeper and Outer Worlds 2 have quickly become some of my all time favorites.

BookNBeard @booknbeard.bsky.social · 24/12/2025

I just don't see it that way. He was talking about the viewership on videos over the last year and I was offering insight as to why I (and maybe others) have stopped watching. The moves Xbox has made aren't what's affecting my viewing habits. The tone of their content is.

BookNBeard @booknbeard.bsky.social · 23/12/2025

I can appreciate that read on it. Earlier in the generation I would even have agreed with it, but as Microsoft has shifted to an ecosystem first approach the tone has shifted. If they act like it's a chore to cover the platform then how can I trust they're being as thorough as they are with others?

130

BookNBeard @booknbeard.bsky.social · 23/12/2025

That would be totally fine! I want to know when a port has issues but the tone of DF Xbox coverage varies from dismissive to hostile these days. Check out the transition from Switch to Series S coverage in the FF7 Remake video for a recent example. It just drives me away from their videos.

BookNBeard @booknbeard.bsky.social · 22/12/2025

I can't speak for everyone, but the tone of Xbox coverage has led to me skipping out on videos I otherwise would have watched. If Switch or PS5 was your platform of choice and this is how it was covered would you click on the video?

If you instantly recognize this photo, I can almost guarantee that you are in no way horrified of shocked about the latest paywalled story.

The lit up nighttime view of the San Francisco Armory. It was always shown before videos from kink dot com, which specialized in BDSM content.

Ashley Benson??? No fucking way

000

I swear it's an Ashley but I can't figure out which one.

000

Ash Parrish knocked this one out of the park. Well worth a read even if you aren't interested in Hyrule Warriors.
