The c# rewrite of the lexer is done. Not needing to write so many helper classes feels nice

Yea the situation sucks bad. I was lucky to get one of the few available junior positions in a ~50km radius this year.

Thinking about the tradeoffs of switching the initial compiler to something with inheritance and classes (C#/Java/C++). This would mean that its not easily bootstrapable on platforms without a compiler/runtime but you could still just run it from another device with a runtime or just audit the [...]

Ig, there should probably be an ir that gets translated to c. Doing it just from the ast probably doesnt work.
000
Booklordofthedings @booklordofthedings.at.app.wafrn.net · 11/10/2026
basic output based on the ast works
a file called output.c with two opaque struct definitions in it

Kinda wanna start with the backend despite the parser not being fully done yet, actually having output might be helpful for my motivation

Thinking about hai again. Im really not good enough with cl yet for my first project to be a compiler. C is just a pain to write memory wise and while Beef would be good it would also reduce auditability.

Thank you. I did have the pre wrap already but the width 100% was missing. Was it because not setting size of the parent allows it to grow ?

Styling question: This codeblock is inside of a div with max-width: 70 and I wanna preserve whitespaces and intentional newlines while also breaking if the block grows larger than the parent how would I do that here. Both word break and overflow break dont seem to work #css

There is a code block element that grows the page size.
In the devtools the css for the code element is visible.

did it, however maybe my formatting/editor sucks, because this is relativly unreadable
Lisp code, lots of brackets incoming: (defvar *lexer-remains* NIL)

  Attempt to match the input.
  - if it does write lexer-remains and output a ( type (consumed)) construct
  Otherwise return nil"

whats the ideomatic way to handle multiple return values in lisp ? i wanna do: registerLexerToken(type, => token(char[])); I guess I could have each token have a list of the remaining characters but idk if that wouldnt just blow up memory usage

As a gift for being a Troupe Supporter on my ko-fi page for a whole year, @inkyfallen.bsky.social has now become a performer with their own troupesona! Thank you so much for all your support and I hope you have a nice stay in the circus! [ #art #artcommissions #kofitroupe ]
Digital colored sketch of Inky's troupesona. They wear a purple shirt and long pants and a sleeveless vest with one half white and the other in a diamond pattern alternating between black and the colors of the rainbow.
They have bright purple hair and a black and white mask covering their face. They are holding a card with their left hand and a paintbrush with the right one. From the paintbrush emerge a swarm of rainbow colored birds made of paint.

I think my favorite gag in portal isn't any particular joke or bit. It's the continued treatment of "testing" as some vague, ephemeral idea. What are they testing exactly? Who knows. Who cares. You're testing. Do the test. Aperture needs to keep testing.

One thing that I feel package manager do wrong is too much output (atleast apt does). Whenever you fetch + upgrade you get way too many log lines with a majority irelevant, so its way esier to miss the actually relevant ones.

No, SungWon is absolutely correct here. The insistence on sticking with the Japanese title when there is already a perfectly acceptable English one is utterly asinine. Nobody does this in Japanese literature, or film, or any other art form. It's just the anime nerds who insist on being obtuse.
