Highly recommended: Accept when a bishop offers you a motorcycle tour of her see city and environs.

I think about this photo often when thinking of religious and ordained women. I want to be at the mass where she presides. I want her to lead me from Word to Sacrament. What ministry we've lost by not allowing so many women to do this for so long. (And still in many quarters!)
A monochrome image of a nun, probably early 20th C. vested with chasuble, gauntlets, pectoral cross, and crosier. Likely an abbess.

This is a well-written story with a good pace. There is just enough circumstantial evidence and more than a few "what ifs" for the reader to be left guessing. It may be that Lady Ferry is just an astonishingly old , peculiar woman, but it may also be that she is something else entirely...
The cover of Lady Ferry, in shades of purple, which depicts a woman in an Edwardian dress with a skull for a face.

Reading Christmastide ghost stories with a cat asleep on your lap. Does it get much better? This little book is a great, short ghost story about greed and murder revealed in a cottage on the moors. It's beautifully illustrated by Seth, a globally-publisher cartoonist from Guelph, just up the road.
A tuxedo cat sleeps on a lap covered in a green blanket next to a hand holding a copy of "The Amethyst Cross" by Mary Fitt.

Blessed Second Sunday of Advent, all. ✝️⚓
An Advent wreath with two violet candles lit while incense burns in the centre and a small wooden icon of Our Lady and the Christ Child stands in front.

Technically taken on Friday, but delighted for a long autumn with leaves and coats and deep sleeps.
Man with ginger hair and a greying beard in a camel coat walking down a sidewalk.
