Judging on behalf of the East Midlands a few years ago (when I still lived in that fine part of the world) was so much fun, and also made me a much better librarian. Highly recommend it!

So hi, I'm Elle, I'm a librarian in a secondary school (lead school in a small MAT) in Berkshire, and I'm a keen reader of middle grade and YA books of all kinds! Oh, and the picture in the top post includes some amazing art by students that we've recently put up to make the library extra colourful

But now it's a new school year, I have more energy and enthusiasm, and I'm keen to pick up a lot of the things I've dropped - including talking to others in the profession, sharing ideas, and maybe even picking up my Chartership attempt again

I took a step back from social media when I went on maternity leave last year, and I fully intended on taking back up all the extra library things I used to do when I went back to work... but I didn't. I found the return to work after mat leave so overwhelming and I couldn't think about other things

Happy #WorldBookDay! A slightly different one for me this year - it feels weird to not be in the library for the biggest day of the book calendar, but instead I'm getting some rest in while waiting for a baby... Wherever you are today, I hope you can take a couple of minutes to enjoy a good book 📖

Loved this book from Sarah Wishart! I rushed through this one, and can't wait to put it into the hands of some of my crime fiction-keen students!

The cover of the book The Murder Hypothesis by Sarah Wishart. Cover text reads "Make an observation. Conduct an experiment. Catch a murderer."

Do any #ukkidlit people have any great school author visit recommendations for World Book Day? We're looking to engage our year 9s, but with the possibility of some workshops or small group sessions for other students too!

Hi all - I'm excited to be making the move away from that other site and sharing ideas with other amazing librarians and book people. The library's latest hit is a weekly 'would you rather' that anyone can vote in...
