wait that solved the black tiles that should be white but not the gray bits, they're still wrong and change depending on what's below them for some reason. see how the top ones are all correct but the bottom ones that have just a single tile sticking down are all wrong?

but also it's just not working for me. it draws what are supposed to be white tiles as black, it still puts the wrong gray bits on sometimes, and it's even wonkier if I try to draw the black tiles in between these because it sees them all as the same kind of tile

here's what it looks like in the editor for reference

a screenshot of the godot 4 editor, open to the tileset pane, the paint tab selected. the terrain set is highlighed on the tiles. above this I've drawn the tiles from the last image, but the autotiling has places seemingly random void tiles, with random bits of gray floating everywhere and the ones "attached" to the white platforms are also incorrect.

trying to set up an autotile (or whatever it's called in godot 4) to draw these and I just cannot figure it out. I've spent days on this, it would have been faster to manually place all the tiles. #godot #godot4

a bunch of very simplistic tiles for a top-down game. the tiles are white and they appear to be floating over a black void. there is a bit of grey below each tile that's directly above the void, giving the illusion of depth.

I hand-wrote copies of this letter and sent them to the CEO of Hasbro, the President of Wizards of the Coast, as well as Aaron Forscythe and Mark Rosewater. I figure it can't hurt to share online too.

$To whom it may concern, I am writing to express my extreme displeasure at the expansion of universes beyond sets announced this weekend. Magic has truly lost its identity, focusing on external properties and shallow takes on popular genres instead of fleshed-out worlds with resonant mechanics and epic stories. As a long-time lover of magic it’s obvious that these sets, in the words of Aaron Forscythe, are not for me. I have purchased universes beyond products very sparingly and will not be purchasing any in the future. Please find attached a newspaper printing of Fractured Identity. I feel that this card perfectly sums up magic in the past five years: an identity fractured between leeching on external properties, in a set full of random characters wearing cowboy hats for no clear reason, from an aftermath product that was an obvious failure, in a border emulating a dead medium that could not possibly excite anyone. It’s my hope that magic products can be for magic players once again. Sincerely, BoofTroupe P.S. Please make the few sets targeted at enfranchised players, like Mystery Booster 2, available and abundant at local game stores. Magic is about the gathering, and without supporting our gathering places there will be no magic.$
