Read @bonnycd.bsky.social's thoughtful review of Alison Gadsby's Breathing Is How Some People Stay Alive (pub. Guernica) in Issue 36! ...On paper, Breathing is exactly what I should want from a new short fiction collection coming out in Canada in 2026... www.thetemzreview.com/bonnycd-gads...
The cover of Breathing Is How Some People Stay Alive, by Alison Gadsby. It's a black-and-white photo of a woman underwater, with many bubbles around her face and head

Read @bonnycd.bsky.social's review of @kyleflemmer.com's The Wiki of Babel (pub. @ucalgarypress.bsky.social)! ...Flemmer’s particularly pointed filching of a commons resource by and large is not circular, does not stray down dark, dead-ended net-alleys... www.thetemzreview.com/bonnycd-flem...
The cover of The Wiki of Babel, by Kyle Flemmer. It looks like a zoomed-in Wikipedia page, with the title in blue italics in the middle of unrelated text

These are both incredibly thoughtful, in-depth reviews:

ISSUE 36 IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!! www.thetemzreview.com/issue-thirty...
A photo taken from a bridge across the Thames River in London, Ontario on an early fall night. The camera looks straight down the bridge, which has a wooden floor and metal frame, towards the lit-up buildings of London's downtown

It only has 35 footnotes. Real easy reading. It’s not *quite* sardonic. It’s ultimately a review of a local reading that unfurls into an interrogation of why most poets obviate the aural qualities of poetry from their practices, historicizes composing aloud, and asks questions re: accessibility.

Okay actual last update, I published a craft essay that I’m l’m partial to on substack. It’s behind the paywall but most of my writing on the substack is free usually & where I slowly transcribe interviews with micropresses on crunchy facture and funding info. open.substack.com/pub/candidli...

And last little update, given how frequently I’m on here: I won Grain’s Hybrid Experimental Prize, which was published in the summer issue but due to a mistake was missing the second page, so catch it in the fall issue. I also won this year’s Prism Grouse Grind lit contest! Verrry lucky year 4 me 😮‍💨

I also had some other reviews out this summer, one on Loch Baillie’s “River Running” with @cv2magazine.bsky.social and one on Derek McCormack’s reissued “Dark Rides” in @derekbeaulieu.bsky.social’s “The Minute Review.”

One of these reviews talks a lot about ambivalence, about “why poetry,” and wrestles with that ever-open question because it has to be wrestled with. The other review might be called ‘decisively negative,’ but I try to keep my aim on better future work, on publishers doing better, and loving genre.

I am very very grateful for Aaron and Amy’s editorial feedback and encouragement with every single piece I bring them. Likely anyone seeing this will understand just how uncommon it is not only to get editorial feedback at all from publishers, nonetheless for it to be both thoughtful and actionable.

Two reviews out in issue 36 of @thetemzreview.bsky.social, both of which I’m pretty pleased with. www.thetemzreview.com/bonnycd-flem... www.thetemzreview.com/bonnycd-gads... I read and marked and dog-eared the latter book so closely that the cover peeled into distinct layers.

Shortlister Dark Souls Gender Elden Ring Madness Bloody Bloody Nosebleed poem just dropped from Temz’ poetry contest in issue 35. I also have a couple reviews coming out with them in the fall for issue 36.

I’m a chapbook publisher now
Small black poetry chapbook with the title SPITE in glitched out chroma-shift distorted style, and the author name MLA Chernoff below in shoreline blue papyrus font. Backside of small black poetry chapbook, with chalky mixed rainbow silhouette of early mural art of a celebrating bacchant. Below the silhouette is the press name, “Bacchus Bouks,” in yellow centaur font.
