bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 13/08/2026(addendum) it is also completely possible that japanese directors get put on a pedestal in a way not many others really do, either due to “place, japan” syndrome or of my own biased lack of awareness. the west idolizes the east, and the east idolizes the west. something like that maybe. 110
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 13/08/2026…especially since what comes to mind on the western end is not “directors” so much as solo/small team developers - Toby Fox, Eric Barone, Joar Jakobsson (who did also receive help in developing said projects!) - all of these are sort of mythologized the same as the japanese devs. (2/2) 210
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 13/08/2026hmm, it’s an interesting question to think about. all the names that come to my mind are japanese directors with a sort of “visionary” air around them - Kojima, Miyazaki, Yoko Taro, Kamiya - the sorts. I’ve only really played one or two of the games between all these directors, odd… (1/2) 110

bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 11/07/2026omg I feel that, even though my semester work was chill, it was more like how when the stress left my body from the semester before it I had to make space for the mind/body to recuperate and ohh my god did it make things hard to do 110
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 30/06/2026i’ve been playing drums for a while now, but never really got into jazz drumming. my limb independence is shit so it’s about time i start practicing. the brush is there so that the cymbal isn’t audible across the whole apartment building. maybe i might document how it goes, maybe not idk 010

What do you mean you struggled to come up with ideas? That's like the most abundant resource imaginable. You can't take a step without colliding with an ideas guy. Why would THAT be what you need help with? 351254262
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 10/05/2026I got my friends to voice different characters in my game, some of them had never done it before and it was kind of awesome to get their take in. little moments of awkwardness and finding unorthodox ways to get into character for the session was sick 000
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 07/05/2026and of course, big thanks to @pizzapranks.bsky.social for the opportunity to make something for this :) 000

bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 06/05/2026it really can’t be understated how good it is to read things you don’t think you’ll vibe with. If all one reads is this kind of hustle-how-to-life-correctly-slop, they will never discover all of the other potential fiction and non-fiction genres that could teach them something new about themselves 010

bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 26/04/2026I also find that when I have nothing to say, it’s a good sign to go and live life for a bit, to kind of stop trying to get something out. When I try too hard it just ends up being unpleasant and bitter 010
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 26/04/2026I get periods of drought sometimes, but those tend to be characterized less by a lack of ideas, moreso that I should make a handful of smaller no-stakes projects to get myself going 110
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 21/04/2026my favorite thing that happened in the last month has been the supermarket’s archaic coffee machine finally breaking down and getting replaced with the new sleek wonderful machine that fills the cup properly to the top. me and my friends were overjoyed the whole week. nature is healing. 000

bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 12/04/2026Feeling particularly inspired by the idea of going to a reference location to study the architecture and environment. Taking the time and effort to replicate little nuances in brick and tile, foliage. 010
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 04/04/2026I loved the little touch of the arcades linking to your plingpling games, was a really funny 15 minutes on a really cute game experience!! such an immersive thing too, to get sidetracked by an arcade while exploring such a festival… 010
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 04/04/2026That one was my first proper game, so it was before I’d started that habit. The earliest project files for it were called Neue Gothica, since the first stylistic inspiration was gothic churches, and KLOSTERTRIEKA as a name came in when a short story/noise album I was working on merged with the game. 010
bonitāka @bonitaka.bsky.social · 03/04/2026…shit. A sort of cesspool of eternal garbage, maggoted and festering. Before I landed on the online theming of the game, and before I found the meaning in its more hopeful moments, the game really was my venting about how hateful the world has felt in recent years. Hence, Garden of Flies. :) 110
