As someone else pointed out in the comments, clotted cream is really dense (like butter) so it's easier to spread on the bottom and add the softer jam on top. You can get perfect coverage so every bite has equal jam and cream... Whereas as yours.. *scoffs* 😆

Ok, before I start, I'm a scone-gone girlie (because otherwise the joke doesn't make sense)... BUT... The great vowel shift between 1400 and 1700 tells us that the "modern" pronunciation is scone-stone and the "old" pronunciation is scone-gone 🤯 some of us are just keeping the old language alive 😅😁
