think i agree with your broader point here but sites can still be unusable even without malware and pop-ups. the more malevolent ones seem to be designed to overload your device so you accidentally click on something while they chug through all your memory.

i'm sure it all depends where you live and how much attention you pay, but the debate over net metering (and corresponding elimination) feels like it was over a decade ago here. after that happened the ROI became tenuous/nonexistent.

saw this late but having worked training LLMs it's rare that they are trained on up-to-date information. while I'm sure they thought of it in other contexts, training was frequently based on information no newer than 6-12 months ago.

I think as long as we avoid the totally ideological types who are fundamentally opposed, renewables will continue to expand here. The SRP tou plans today hinge on solar. But I guess that's also a warning that this election is pretty big, and unfortunately I don't get a vote.

100

bombercules.bsky.social @bombercules.bsky.social · 04/03/2026

they want less renewable energy. there's also a bunch of ads that say to vote against their candidates' opponents, they seem to be funded by a group focused on building more data centers.

the current TOU energy plans in the phoenix area are built around solar now (ie lowest rates during the hours with the most sunshine), it's pretty obvious that energy providers want this because it's a great value proposition at scale

I know how weather works and the heat island effect, I just don't see any reason to exaggerate the numbers. 34 C air temperature and 90% RH are not conditions that occur in the night/early morning hours when charging would/should be conducted, and that's what the post implied.

000

bombercules.bsky.social @bombercules.bsky.social · 23/12/2025

your original post did not specify it was quoting "feels like" temperatures, making it seem way worse than it truly is. it's also still not normal for those temperatures to persist into night, charging would ideally be centered around the coolest hours of the day when demand is lowest in the summer.

100

bombercules.bsky.social @bombercules.bsky.social · 22/12/2025

recorded temperatures that day were in the mid-30s around tokyo, many apps use weather stations that may not have reliable data

100

bombercules.bsky.social @bombercules.bsky.social · 22/12/2025

is this anomaly not captured in climate data somehow?

100

bombercules.bsky.social @bombercules.bsky.social · 22/12/2025

most summer days don't even reach that temperature in tokyo, not sure which region you're referencing but it kinda seems like you're using an extreme example where demand would spike regardless

100

bombercules.bsky.social @bombercules.bsky.social · 20/12/2025

maybe I should just watch the video but it seems a much more relevant take for that kind of content is the death of third spaces spurring loneliness (male or otherwise), not lack of generic dating advice

000

bombercules.bsky.social @bombercules.bsky.social · 20/12/2025

you said self-help stuff is generic and vapid and he gave advice that was generic and vapid, even if it is technically sound. idk, seemed pretty straightforward, not gonna dunk on the guy but his premise seems flawed
