🩺 Meet Erik Lundqvist MD, Surgical Consultant, PhD. A native of Söderköping, Erik studied medicine at Linköping. The overall aim with his research is to improve the diagnosis and management of patients with colorectal cancer, affecting almost 7000 new individuals in Sweden each year.

Unlike normal cells, cancer cells can't convert homocysteine due to low MTR enzyme activity. We will investigate whether this methionine dependency is also present in patient tissue. If confirmed, adjusting homocysteine levels could help slow tumor growth without harming normal cells.
