The total population of those So Cal counties is about 24.3 million. Consider 28 military personnel per sq/mile. The Rule of Thumb for the ratio of military personnel per 1000 civilians to occupy a territory is 20-30. This comes out to 50 military per 1000 civilians. 3/

Even within states like Washington and Oregon, the rural areas get mad that their tax dollars are going to fund projects in Portland or Seattle. They have to be constantly reminded that it's the tax revenue from those big cities that fund everything THEY take for granted. Their taxes are a pittance

I lived in a couple of red states. A lot of folks there believe they are entitled to those government services and money. What I heard on multiple occasions was that they were mad that poor black families, Native Americans, Latinos--ya know, brown people--were getting it. "That's our money!"

Probably play out like 2008. The loans will be bought up and they will sit on them for years until property values go up. If they don't foreclose right away they can keep the book value at what the loan note says, otherwise they have huge write-offs and become involvent on paper.

It may be all about timing. Wait and see how Russia reacts. If Putin just makes more demands for surrender then we may see more operations. I think that Putin would view a ceasefire as capitulation at this point, so we wait and see what will happen.
