Workers' rights, social justice, all that jazz. If I've blocked you despite not knowing you, it's probably because you were aggressively stupid somewhere.

Did you fire all the copy editors?
Quote from article that mistakenly uses "it's" (contraction) instead of "its" (possessive).

"Natural hierarchy": it's rare I see it so clearly spelled out in the "college isn't for everyone" discourse. From the hellsite:

Great job, @mayorbowser.dc.gov. These three street parking spots definitely add more vitality to the neighborhood than a streatery where people were having fun, spending money, and generating tax revenue for the District.

Poignant that one of the co-authors of the study is described as "formerly with NIOSH's Health Effects Laboratory Division" -- that's the NIOSH program with toxicologists and other laboratory scientists conducting research that leads to findings such as this.

NIOSH provides -- or, until RFK hit, provided -- free health hazard evaluations to workplaces where something is happening to worker health and the boss and/or workers want to get to the bottom of it. But that's no more. www.cdc.gov/niosh/hhe/fa...

When you try to click to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Data & Statistics Gateway, you get nada. Occupational health data are held hostage to the Trump-Vance administration's attack on CDC/HHS. www.cdc.gov/niosh/data/

Among the things I keep thinking as I read these investigations is that we're learning about these dangerous workplaces because kids are hired illegally and then hurt. But the workplaces are also dangerous to everyone else working there. #OSHA

FLSA does not foreclose state laws that go beyond federal child labor standards, but states generally don’t take advantage of this option.  Most states don’t go beyond FLSA for farmwork, and those that do are laxer for non-ag industries. www.frontiersin.org/articles/10....  2/7
Quoted text from linked article; alt-text window truncates it. It is the paragraph in the article that begins, "As a result of these lax federal standards, the fifty individual states have significant discretion to provide—or fail to provide—legal protections for young, hired workers in agriculture. Laws can vary from state to state, but most states' laws do not set more stringent standards than the FLSA does for young, hired workers in agriculture—and those that do are still more permissive than the FLSA is for other industries."
