We’re in danger of imitating the US mistake where law enforcement leaves far right nutters alone because they’re scared of them while going all in on grannies and people in baggy jumpers who make daisy chains and hold hands.

Given the dubious reputation of his chain I don’t think you can see he ever had the trust of the teaching profession. How they pick these people is a mystery.

So fed up of the triggering nervousness among entrepreneurs bs. Some of them are happy to pay tax as they are 1) reasonable human beings 2) realise a fair economy will help them make money in the long run 3) want the uk to have proper infrastructure. The rest can do one.

This is what ‘normal’ people won’t accept. At some point if the mfs won’t do what is right they should just clear off somewhere else. Most people would prefer to eat this than have an everlasting situation where the rich get to dodge tax.

This is why Reform in their current iteration can not win. Even for Kemi Badenoch, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel.

To his credit it seems he’s watched a lot of movies and TV shows and figured out how it works. Die Hard; Dr Strangelove; Jurassic World; Star Trek - the list is endless. Seize the control room. Then think about what you might do.

Niche policy given that 6% earn over 100000 and only a small percentage of those will need childcare. Are the obvious you’re only bothered about the rich attacks worth it? If this is the sort of thing she’s going to do why not offer free private school for rich kids?

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. They cannot make fine judgements. Under Tories almost all schools were good. Now in a poor area it’s much harder to be expected and in a rich area it’s easier to be strong. If they can’t find anything obviously wrong they should just say fine.

Love all this. Endless, endless media commentary on how someone needs to end the Triple Lock. He tinkers with it. OMG what a disaster. The media and political circus in this country are an unserious embarrassment.

you look at SEND crisis, happiness of secondary age kids, elective home ed and 1/3 leaving at 16 with no quals. When they pick PUSA it’s like focusing on who is winning on corners and ignoring the actual score.

Miserable students. Home ed and SEND crisis. 1/3 finish at 16 with no meaningful qualifications. But PISA. A very ambitious project to measure attainment across different languages. AI summary questions validity and precision of ranking individual countries.

We had Brexit because the only growth we’ve had goes in to the pockets of the rich. Growth, growth, growth means nothing without fundamentally restructuring how we share wealth.

Not to downplay this, but people overplay the racist element of Reform. Many would hate people for being from the next village. Wow betide you support a different football team or have an unfamiliar accent. The internet allows them to hate foreigners in a big gang of people they also hate.

Only path my backside. I’m tired of theee pronouncements. Boris was going to rule forever. Then so was Starmer. Burnham will have a decent chance to govern no matter what because the alternative is a cabinet of bonkers people with bonkers ideas. Sane people will vote any way they can to avoid this

The ‘left’ continues with their we can’t tax the rich lunacy and wonders why Reform Is so popular. Please don’t write and tell me they’ll tax them even less. The problem is that Labour seems too scared to challenge the rich in any guise, making it seem pointless to many to support them.

This is how it was always bound to be. When in the EU the Brexiters could describe the land of milk and honey that awaited. Now we’ve been there and realised it’s a land of 💩 and destitution. Like with UFOs, some people believe any crackpot and doubt anything they haven’t seen with their own eyes.

Again, staggering that we get to hear once again his sad, down-on-his-luck story of how the UK has done him wrong. Is he having to wait behind immigrants in A&E? Have they cut benefits for his third child? No. He has to pay tax to support the state provided infrastructure allowing him to be rich.

You can’t choose to ignore politics. Politics gets involved in your life somehow. It’s an idiotic approach to take. It’s like saying I’m going to try to avoid showing what my values are for my entire life.

I’m sure he’s devastated by the loss of far-right support. The far right don’t care about anyone and if the internet hadn’t helped them gang up on immigrants they’d still be falling out with the man from the next village just because he’s from the next village.

I looked into this when fed up of being lectured about Pupil Premium. EAL Pupil Premium accounted for the success of the London challenge. Look through top schools on Pupil progress now. generally high Pupil Premium high EAL. Along with no market town I could add no school with high white British PP

No context. Just look at 3 of the 4 schools mentioned in Daisy’s article. What’s the context? They all have the dream progress 8 cohort in what is a de facto (through practice) selective system. No surprise none of these schools are ever from a market town.

The knowledge focus is better, but no one stopped teaching skills. For a significant number of children the balance is wrong and this needs addressing, probably through knowledge and skills rich vocational courses. None of this is hard to grasp. It’s all hard to do.

Ofsted are again penalising schools by cohort, which they stopped doing around 2021, but now it’s back. This discourages staff from working in them at just the time govt says they are needed there.

A lot of the comment is fantasist stuff from people who haven’t been near a school since they were 18. I now work in a school where it’s EASY to get good results. I used to do the same stuff in a school where it’s HARD to get good results. Gove threw out contextual value added.

Once again lauding how well reforms have done for high EAL and high PP schools. Can anyone explain the discrepancy between Dixons Leeds and Bradford. pretty sure I know what it is. Could the authors point to, say, some one school in the town success stories where they have to cater for everyone?

For the first 20 years of my life, no matter the government, it seemed some progress in how we relate and treat each other was being made - end of apartheid, LGBTQ rights, end of conflict in Ni, fall of Berlin Wall now it seems we spend a lot of time being told who to blame and hate.

What should be happening is Burnham banning these ridiculous donations but presumably the Labour Party is worried about where they’re going to get their money from. When he puts a sensible limit on donations, say £1000, I’ll give him £3
