boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Overall, its a lot less than I expected, but hey, cool game, cool concept, and if you're also a language/cipher nerd you might like it. I'll give it a tentative 7/10 000
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/20268- Dreams are there to teach you some words. If you choose the correct option it will say "Yes, it meant something like this" remember to record them in your wordbook. 100
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/20267- There are some words who only appear once or twice, and you might have to consult a guide on those and that's okay. Same with a couple words that got a bit weird in translation. 100
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/20265- Remembering the previous instances of the use of a word is very helpful. 6- Words that are put close to each other on the word list are similar to each other/express similar concepts. 100
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/20263- You can leave the girl at the table to explore the house on your own. 4- In the alchemy room, there is a little safe that you can enter a codeword in. That is a good tool to see the whole alphabet, and also to identify each individual letter. 100
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Here's what I'd tell someone trying it for the first time: 1- Its caveman speak. Don't go into it expecting full sentences and grammar. 2- The letters are not consistent between words, but they are consistent within each word. 100
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Speaking of guides: They are very helpful, and there are spoiler-free versions that I'd recommend checking out. The game is not good at giving you the information that you need, and most guides will have an introductory bit that covers those. 100
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/20264) The game doesn't really tell you what to do, apart from "learn words". There is an event and a room that you can easily miss if you don't consult the guides. 110
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/20263) The advertisement DEFINITELY oversells the game. I was under the impression that learning more words would drastically shift the story and how I interacted with it and that was very much not true lol. 100
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/20262) The gameplay is a bit repetitive, and once you've learned certain words, there's no incentive to do certain stuff 110
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Let me start off by saying it's a nice game. It's a very nice and short game, but there are some issues with it. 1) The game is translated into English - and while this normally wouldn't be an issue, it becomes a slight issue when the game is about language and about deciphering ciphers. 110
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Basically, the worst thing about this game is that there isn't more of it. Honestly, this is probably the best decipher game I've played. 10/10 010
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026There are many endings and many paths you can take, though having to go back to do things differently do muddy the timeline a bit for the player. It doesn't help that the story seems to be way bigger than the game is, and there are a lot of unanswered questions or conflicting endings. 110
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026The guides are helpful but not absolutely necessary - unless you're shooting to get all the endings, which I did in 9 hours or so. The cast is sweet, the main character (while baffling at times) is cool and overall it's a fun time. 100
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026That being said, there are a lot of jumpscares and squelchy noises, so it's not a game for the easily disturbed. It comes with the territory of a deciphering game made in not-english that some words don't really have direct english counterparts, but that didn't hinder the gameplay experience for me 110
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026Homicipher is a super cool game in which you wake up in an unfamiliar world and you try to learn the language of the locals as you try to get back to your own life. The cast of characters are super fun and quite spooky, even if you've already befriended them. 110
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026It's a good game to play when you're too tired for intense gaming after a long day and just wanna chill. 010
boatbud.bsky.social @boatbud.bsky.social · 16/02/2026A cute little puzzle game in which you seat people in places according to their wishes. It's more akin to a puzzle than a game, so it's a good game to play with non-gamers as well. It's got a sweet story in the background too. 100
