Inferno! Got a chance to try this out yesterday. It’s dripping with hellish theme and does a great job tying the mechanics into the theme. #boardgames #craniocreations #redmojo

Picture of Inferno set up on a friend’s coffee table in its end game state with the box cover at the top of the photo.

Great game of Nassau last night! I’m a Feld fan girl 🙌 This one lands kind of middle of the road for me…

Flatiron is such a good 2 player (and I hear it’s a feisty solo! I haven’t tried it solo yet). The push/pull between players and the timing choices are tough!

Picture of Flatiron setup about half way through the game. Flatiron building is in the process of the 3rd floor being built.

Close up of the Flatiron building fully built at the end of the game. Orange, white, and blue pillars can be seen between the floors. There are many more orange than blue, which is one of the reasons I lost this play!

My personal definition is that a game is on my shelf of opportunity for up to 1 year. If it’s been there for >1 year, it’s on my shelf of shame!

Since so many folks are popping over from TikTok, I’m doing a quick intro post with this ridiculous screenshot! I’m Sara! I got into modern board gaming in 2010; I’ve run Meetup groups in 2 different cities, corrupting the unexpecting; in Spring of 2024, I joined the @heavycardboard.bsky.social crew

I discovered my mom took pics on my phone while I was punching Civolution. The cat was helping. Civolution is a beast to prep - there are double layered boards and terrain to sticker together. It’s completely worth it though! Look at the quality - I LOVE a box that tells you how to re-pack it!

Close up of the cat. Cat is glaring because she is not being treated at the priority.

Me punching out Civolution. Lots of pieces on the table. Cat sitting on my lap with her arms on the table like a human.

Inside of the Civolution box, showing iconography on how to put components back into the box.

Outside of the Civolution box, showing what order to replace everything in the box.

I pulled up our @heavycardboard.bsky.social stream to confirm our scores and happened to pause it right here - perfect pose by @martinfowler.com

The game room might be getting a bit out of control (and this is only one corner). These used to be organized and didn’t touch the ceiling

Got to play Nemesis for the first time the other night. One of my arms was ripped off by an alien. Then the other arm was blown off by a grenade chucked by a crew mate. Then I died. It was a glorious experience; I loved every minute of it.

Finally pulled together a consistent group of folks to play Spirit Island. I wanted to start trying different spirits and strategies, but it’s hard when the game always has to start with a teach.

Just got my ass handed to me by my 7 yo. Then he advised, “you really have to stack your buttons in the mid-game” 🙄

2023 was a great year with a lot of incredible new games published. My 2024 Goals: - Log >600 plays - Make >26 board game posts (I take more pictures than I post!) - Play at least 20 games off my shelf of shame - Play a game every day of the year (This is unlikely!) - Play a 10x10 with my kids

Played sooo much Brass Birmingham today. Two back to back games of it - and that makes me very happy! #brassbirmingham
