Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 29/08/2026Say I wanted to understand the effect endless scrolling short video feeds has on individuals, positive or negative, what kinds of terms might I want to use to find studies on such a thing? Is this the wrong question entirely? 100

Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 27/08/2026That's true, but the salience of the media in social media, generative AI, and video games are quite different than movies, TV, books, and music. Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 27/08/2026I think most people just want to understand "what's wrong" with them rather than be term-slapped, and get closer to figuring out the steps to remedy the issue. Do you have any insight on guidance in the right direction? 120
Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 27/08/2026I'm not sure pointing out the distinction between what people are TRYING to refer to and a behavioural addiction is useful. There's a problematic behaviour that people feel have been trained into them that disturbs their work/personal life, habits, whathaveyou. 130
Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 04/08/2026I read one line and my gutteral reaction is "JUST LOOK WHEREVER BUT MOSTLY HER FACE" And then another line and had a reaction "PLEASE NO MORE SHE-E-O-style empowerment!" I feel annoyed with both sides... maybe I just hate people 010

Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 25/02/2026I wonder if some of this is a product of folks spending more time at home with WFH changes that happened over the pandemic or simply more members of the home being home more often. The average humidy increases with all the gross human things happening at home and water usage. 100

Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 31/12/2025The Tatami Galaxy was amazing. The poetry and mythology behind some of the scenes, the essence of Japanese college life, all captured beautifully. I got the pleasure of seeing one of the areas mentioned in the book too, with all the life involved as described ♥️ 110

Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 31/12/2025The book I read this year which I appreciated the most was The Tatami Galaxy (app.thestorygraph.com/books/d7946a...). Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 31/12/2025Never thought of it that way (like hearing your own recorded voice). I have definitely cringed in the exact same way reading some of my old stuff. Thank you for having passed along the advice ♥ 1100
Reposted by Seize the means of computation@fraudesswrites AKA holly manno @fraudesswrites.bsky.social · 30/12/2025You need an outline. Something simple. A few lines of summary for each chapter. With this, you'll have a road map. Don't worry, you can take detours, or new paths, just re-outline when things come up. If you do this, it will be easier IMHO--5 novels, 3 poetry collections & 2 children's books later. 1291
Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 31/12/2025This is exactly what I did. Been brainstorming something for YEARS. And the only thing that got me to keep coming back and make SOME progress over time has been to make an outline. Started by outlining more generally, then nailed down each chapter. Now in the process of fleshing each chapter out. ♥️ 1130

Seize the means of computation @bnolet.me · 31/12/2025For those who are talking about reaching a goal and improving their reading habits, good for them! I just hope that people don't use that goal to beat themselves over the head if they don't meet it. Just that you put your effort towards self-improvement should count. The more readers the merrier! 030
