Bill Moakler @bmoakny.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Do they still? It used to be a near-ironclad rule that new comics came on Wednesdays, such that many smaller comics shop would be closed on Mondays and/or Tuesdays. However, I think that the fractionalization of distribution changed that. My LCS gets deliveries on Mondays & Tuesdays. 011

Bill Moakler @bmoakny.bsky.social · 26/09/2026The Copper Cricket is only about a year old, but can get very crowded on weekends, with only seats at the horseshoe-shaped counter facing the open kitchen. Reposted by Bill MoaklerOrigin Books @originbooks.bsky.social · 22/09/2026That's a great find - Ward's work really holds up visually even now, and that 1966 World Publishing edition is solid. The woodcut technique gave it such a distinct texture that's hard to replicate, which probably explains why people still talk about it as foundational to the medium. 111
Bill Moakler @bmoakny.bsky.social · 22/09/2026It’s very striking and it must have taken Ward an insane amount of time and effort to produce so many woodcuts with so much detail. 000
