Its Palantirs unlimited access to UK patient records that worries me. How was that allowed considering that we adopted GDPR into law? Moreover why was access allowed to records that would allow them to identify individuals?

The tower of London needs to be repurposed. It should be the next unstately home of the ERG, Johnson, Banks, Cummins and Farage. Just saying....

Ireland would need to if the EU terms and conditions for UK accession require schengen alignment. One in and one out would create a friction at the border of NI / Ireland, so it's either both or neither. Personally I would prefer both in, but I can't speak for ireland! 😊

Austria, Finland, and Sweden made an accession in 21 months. I doubt it would be that fast for the UK. IMHO 3 issues will be a future UK gov taking us back out, dealing with UK regressions since brexit & then 27 members voting us back in. I'd be delighted if it could be done in a parliament though!

It would be a good bit of cover for Davey to go with that. Most importantly good for the UK as a whole.

Correct me if I'm but im sure Trump was pondering whether to leave WTO in his first term. That would have been interesting for the UK had the headbangers in the ERG had got their way with a no deal.

It's not just our rights. The EHCR underpins our thin TCA with the EU as part of a level playing field provision. As a minimum security & judicial cooperation stops. At worse the EU annulls the agreement and trade reverts to WTO. It's a trojan horse for taking our trade to something like Belarus's.

That's exactly the point. Reform, Restore and the Tories are political trojan horses who intend to turn our trading relationship with the EU to something more like what Russia has.

Indeed. See politics live in the guardian, the tories have descended into full on ideological lunacy. It's certainly not a broad church anymore, if anything it hasn't been since the purge of 2019.

Good luck to all those that vote for this when it floods. This feels like an escalating game of scrapping arms length bodies. Reform wanted Natural England gone & now the tories want the environment agency gone too. The logical conclusion to this is no regulatory bodies at all for anything.

Reform, Restore and the tories are all party's that will take our trade with Europe back to the 1950's. Without the EHCR the EU will withdraw from the current TCA trade treaty. Tariffs, quotas, and full compliance checks will then apply. The UK ceases to function in less than a month.

God help us if this goes to a referendum. It will be like 2016 and Iceland 2026 on steroids, billions will be piled in to stop the UK joining any part of the EU. Not just here, those on the right only have to buy out one of the 27 countries to guarantee failure.

Hate creates revenue. The ultra wealthy have control of the algorithms that are used via their influencers to create infighting amongst the 99.99999% of us. These influencers including Braverman are being rewarded to destroy the social & political fabric of their own countries.

A top calling out of the lies of those that intentionally create hatred. Social media comms is deliberately designed to allow lies to spread around the world before the truth gets its boots on. Worse still, when this is debunked one has already lost the argument with these far right folk.

IMHO those that profit this by spreading misinformation & hatred are paid servants of the ultra wealthy. These awful folk are radicalising the UK electorate to destroy their own country from within. Imho if we ever consider rejoining the EU this monetisation of hate has to be stopped first. End.

Take Rupert Lowe, he's earning quite well on X but hit the jackpot recently when Musk started sharing his posts. Or Truss, once a committed remainer to now being totally on the opposite pole. Or Oakeshot, to name a few. They're all making money by destroying the social / political fabric of the UK 2

When you have billionaires controlling social media algorithms which leads to prominent influencers being paid handsomely to create fear, division and hatred you have a real problem. Social media has a much bigger reach than the press, if anything it's the presses amplifier. 1.

This isn't about what are the benefits for the UK alone. If it ever happened that we intend to join back in some form with Europe we must make the case of what the UK can bring of benefit to Europe.

Interesting article in guardian politics live today concerning an article by Ben Judah. He is sayng that labour should call a GE right after their party conference on a manifesto to eventually rejoin the EU. Damned risky, may unite the anti EHCR parties & EU/EEA Members States could well say no.

Very true about the single market and the EHCR. Couple of things to be more cheerful about, the combined anti EHCR vote share is dropping due to reforms polling drop. And we just may see Labour change their EU red lines come the next GE. The kite flying has started on the latter...

Reform & the tories given the chance would permanently destroy the UK's relationship with the EU. If Burnham has joining the SM in the next labour manifesto, imho it guarantees a RefTory alliance. They'd stand down potential 2nd place candidates in the next GE to ensure victory for the anti EHCR.

The two UK party's advocating EHCR withdrawal are at a combined 44%. If they made an electoral pact with one another withdrawal is highly likely on current polling.

Pragmatic type, mainly due to the UK's unstable political scene. It's not clear we will even rejoin just the EU SM within the next parliament. There are signs that brexitism has peaked, but at least 3 parties need to commit in their manifesto by the next GE. Then it's in the hands of member states.

Awful, he is playing to his core support. Protect our women and kids as long as they don't have a relationship and by definition the wrong colour of skin. The wealthy have a lot to answer for, their methods of division are becoming a cancer of society.

They both have a common wet dream of withdrawing the UKfrom the ECHR. With current polling this is likely the only way they would be able to do this. Due to FPTP, it's possible the combined reform / tory support of 44% would be enough to throw a majorities rights under a bus.

If a Reform led government changed the British Nationality Act to expand deprivation and also withdrew from the 1961 statelessness convention and repudiated ICCPR (apparently it's not possible to leave it) it sets the scene for the prior post and some pretty nasty stuff.

I'm sure in Reform HQ they are pouring over this as a potential way to rid the country of those they dislike by instructing the Home Office to simply delete records. Why else would Reform have a stated policy to leave the EHCR? www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
