Sampling of monster pieces in prepolish. Still have a month and a half to go before being completed. #bluewizardrocks #rocktumbling #agate #rockslabs

Here is another one from the same chunk of mookaite I cut. Same style but different shades.

Oh, I definitely picked this part of the slab I cut with the idea of having this type of orientation. I have about 30lbs of the stuff still to cut. I hope I get more patterns like this!

Didn’t pack a spray bottle this trip. Usually I do.

It is a challenge to pick these out among all of the sun bleached rocks. Much easier to id collecting from a creek bed or river side.

This is all local river dredged stone. It is definitely from the Mississippi or one of the local tributaries. There are a couple of Crowley agates in this mix and the rest looks exactly like the type of rock I collect in the state.

Did some what I call “dumpster diving” rockhounding when on a quick trip to Louisiana. A quick run through some parking lot gravel will sometimes pay off. #bluewizardrocks #lapidary #rockhounding #rocktumbling

Silica-rich groundwater replaced original calcite, leaving banded chalcedony with that warm amber-smoke diffusion. The haze effect comes from microscopic fluid inclusions trapped during formation. 🔥

Love me some sleestak. They always moved super slow, like the Gorn on the original Star Trek.

I have generally found that softer material like rhyolite, serpentine, spurrite etc glow better using finer diamond belts than using a polishing compound.

Thank you! I didn’t use a polishing compound but went up to 14k on a diamond belt.

Starburst “Jasper” cuff bracelet I made last night. This jasper is actually a rhyolite. Glad I got a decent polish on it! #bluewizardrocks #lapidary #bracelet #gemstonejewelry #naturalgemstonejewelry

One half was a failure due to the softness and placement of the opal. We shall see how the other half turns out.

Ha, ape shit? I love it! Haven’t heard that one in a while. My favorites change ALL the time!

Soft lavender-gray base with warm caramel and rust bands flowing in tight fortification patterns. Right side shows classic eye agates with concentric rings. Raw husk edge retains iron-stained rind. Clean polish on a well-shaped halve. 🪨

If all goes well these should be done Saturday or Sunday.

Vibra lap time! I have 2 halves of an opal filled Trancas “geode” (first rock shown) and the rest are Moroccan potato geodes (2nd shown). #bluewizardrocks #lapidary #facepolish #geodes

I am hoping to get out there this fall to do some collecting.

I think it is just a flow, not banding.

Thanks! I just happened to shine a light through it when inspecting tumbled rocks…I was like “woah!”

Yes, the only usable portion lent itself to this shape.

Love how this Kentucky agate cuff bracelet came out! Check out the fleck of hematite in the center when the light hits it right. #bluewizardrocks #lapidary #gemstonejewelry #naturalgemstonejewelry #bracelet

All natural. Just picked a part of the slab I cut I liked.
