I do love these verbal battle exchanges they gave to the Trails in the Sky remakes, really adds something to the fights

It's fun to have finally watched Twin Peaks and spot all the references to it in various media I've engaged with over the years.

I just realised Ecco is the dolphin in the Burning Rangers stage in SEGA Racing Transformed, that's a cool little cameo

#42: Ecco the Dolphin (SEGA Mega Drive) A tale of a dolphin who travels back in time to the Jurassic period to claim power to save his dolphin friends from being eaten by alien invaders. Ecco feels very fluid to move & visually it still charms today. But the difficulty would make Dark Souls blush.

What are 4 videogames that you think about replaying the most?

#41: Super Metroid (SNES) I can see why this is considered one of the greatest games of all time & is a blueprint for many Metroidvanias. I feel spoiled playing it coming off Dread & Samus Returns, which are more tightly designed with better physics. But if you're into the genre, it's a must play.

#40: No More Heroes (Wii) In terms of aesthetic & style, it's fantastic. Very expressive in how cool it all feels. But playing it can be a real slog at points, with mundane & tedious sidequests that feel like a real grind. The combat system isn't the most developed. Suplexing enemies is fun though!

#39: New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) If I had to describe this game in a word, I'd say 'inoffensive'. There isn't really anything innovative or dynamic here. Just a standard 2D Mario. A decent game that I'm not going to remember in the years to come. I'm struggling to even say much about it honestly.

going through old boxes for family stuff and randomly came across this sketch of Joshua I drew 14 years ago based off the original Trails in the Sky's opening! IIRC I did this when visiting @floop249.bsky.social in the US, what a blast from the past!

#38: Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (DS) Crazy how many plot beats I recall 16 years later, but I actually beat it this time! A good entry in the series, although I think the online multiplayer aspects clash with what DQ does best. Character moments and narrative are great though.

if AA7 is legit, I hope they do away with the 'lawyer protagonist with female teenaged sidekick' dynamic, it feels a little tired at this point. give me a Mia Fey game with young Phoenix Wright as an assistant, or a Gregory Edgeworth with Eddie Fender game

000

Blue_Toad507 @bluetoad507.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

#37: Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls (PS5) It's great to see the likes of Loki, Blade, Magik, Goblin and Kamala in a fighting game at long last. The Episodes feel like 95% cutscenes, 5% fights. But I liked the X-Men/Knights of Doom stories. But please I'm begging ArcSys to let us turn auto combos off!
