Pacific storms and rising sea levels erasing California beaches and destroying coastal property reveal the harsh reality of global heating. Bailing out beachfront mansions while ignoring systemic ocean warming is unsustainable. Why delay real climate adaptation? 🤔 #ClimateCrisis

Rising sea destroys homes, erases beaches in California. Is worse to come?
Experts say even more ferocious waves could arrive in the coming months.

My first thought was “urgh, delayed gratification is the worst!”…And I stand by that 😆 But I do love a good re-read as well. I am actually planning a re-read myself now. Of everything though, not just Parlabane. 30 years is a LONG time and I know I’ve forgotten a lot of it

I just this second finished @brookmyre.bsky.social’s latest. Wow. I never was a huge Parlabane fan (sorry) but I loved that ending. I have actual tears in my eyes 🥹 He summarises the state of the world, the division & “bad actors” - which leave me inarticulate with fury - so eloquently. FIVE STARS

A male white-tailed bumblebee It's finally summer and who doesn't love that deep buzzing sound of a bumblebee on a warm sunny afternoon! We're going to the woods at Easter Breich Community Woodland to survey these fascinating animals for the Bumblebee Conservation Trusts BeeWalk scheme. On this walk we'll talk about the different bumblebee species and how to identify them, and share what we know about why they're such important pollinators and the different pressures that these amazing little creatures face.

What a month January can be! For the first time we had to postpone one of our Ramble&Chats due to a yellow weather warning. We managed to meet up on the following Sunday when it was cold and overcast but at least didn't rain and we were able to spend an hour watching and identifying lots of different species of birds out on the water at the Almond Pools!

Our Ramble&Chat event this month spent an hour birdwatching at the Almond Pools in Livingston. We recorded: tufted ducks, goldeneye, teal, little grebes, coots, moorhens, mallards, a heron and a buzzard! We counted the totals and uploaded the records using BirdTrack app! @btoscotland.bsky.social
