In the afternoon, the team on the ward meets again and talks through all the patients again. Blue got to ring the bell for the meeting! - we talk about problems, who is getting better, who is getting worse. Who is new. Then Dr Scott goes and sees anyone who’s new or getting worse.

after lunch, we walked to the University, & gave a talk about Long COVID - and other infections that can make you ill for a long time after the fever bit has gone. Even some kids get sick like this - and miss out on a lot of school :-( @primaryteachermary.bsky.social @nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk

One of the patients was very confused and having a bad dream. Normally they are nice, but today they threw their drinks and water at the nurses! The nurses are very understanding - but now also quite wet. They had to go and change. @nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk @primaryteachermary.bsky.social

The ward round lasts right up until lunch time. We saw lots of really lovely people - with a lot of different problems. Infected bones, rashes, infected skin, Diarrhoea/ vomiting. Etc. @primaryteachermary.bsky.social @nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk

The resident doctors help with the ward round - they look up blood test results, and X rays, and order new ones. Sometimes a patient needs a bit more time - so they will stop seeing all the patients with Dr Scott and make sure they are OK @primaryteachermary.bsky.social @nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk

First thing, the whole team meets up to talk about the patients. We have a list of patients and whats wrong with them on paper, and on a white board. We don’t photograph this though because it is PRIVATE. This is called “confidentiality.” @primaryteachermary.bsky.social @nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk

This is what the ward looks like. There are rooms here that one patient has all to themselves. Usually patients get one of these rooms if they are very ill, or if they have something that another patient can catch, like COVID19, or flu.
