Each assembled the pieces that they already lost and made something new out of it. A legacy. A home. A bond like no other. "Yeah, okay. Was just stopping to say hi," he groaned as he got up and took the cup with him, "I'm gonna go up and wash this. Stop stealing my stuff."

But there were things he could say without speaking a word. This moment that they shared was a form of his adoration and appreciation. For all the years they fought—together and against each other—they also mend their wounds.

Contrary to popular beliefs, it wasn't that hard to make him smile. Not really. If there was anyone with an exact copy of his soul, it would be the man sitting next to him. Nobody understood him better than Bruce—it could be a disadvantage sometimes.

"Getting old." His father was a paranoid man, always calculating every move. Always coming up with the what ifs, which move to take if he was taken down and ... gone. Dick still wasn't able to picture life—a world without him. 𝘏𝘦'𝘥 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵. "You said it'd be nice."

"I could have," he parroted, setting the cup back down. Dick turned his head to look at his father. 𝘈𝘩. The streak of grey at the side of his hair, it was apparent when he looked closely. Without realizing, his lips curved into a smile. "It's nice, isn't it?"

"Nearly died from all that traffic. Should've just gone with you two but I don't want to ruin the moment."

He grabbed another chair and sat down next to Bruce. Shrugging, his hand reached for the Superman cup that he left in the cave. Clearly, it was his. Technically. The coffee was Bruce's. He sipped on it without a care.

"I thought I heard someone," he said, walking down the stairs. "How was the mission? You made him leave in the middle of the game."

Back to Blüd. I hope everyone's holding up fine.

Geez. I'm not. I still owe you twenty bucks, text me when you're back.

... Yeah. And I'll talk to Batman if he has any issues with it. That sound good to you?

Yeah. Yeah, I know you won't. I'll kill you for the third time if you do. It suits you, you know. This thing. I've heard the kids back home talk about you being their hero—even ones in Blüd. You're not a waste of time.

I'm looking at you because you're right and this is the last time I'll say it.

Look, there's too much at stake over missing items. I'm saying we should just leave this place—not all of us, but ...
