to him its the same as his talks with (real) sphene making her realize she wanted to live for herself and not as alexandrias queen. its about helping others recognize their own autonomy, wars and apocalypses be damned

bonana comes off pointed and a little immature talking to calyx, but thats just bc he knows how stubbornly hes clinging to that facade of apathy. he wants nothing more than to break through and get him to admit to his own humanity

120

lady protector | 7.5 spoilers @bluberryffxiv.bsky.social · 6h

a thing abt bonana is he has a sort of superpower in how he is good at learning about a persons situation and their demeanor and going "ok but how you feel about it? 🤨" over and over until they actually start to think about it. which is obv not ideal for someone so utterly detached from his feelings

130

lady protector | 7.5 spoilers @bluberryffxiv.bsky.social · 6h

i wish i knew how to phrase the dynamic between bonana and calyx. its like, bonana does hate him for the personal damage hes done, but for once he also deeply sympathizes with him and wishes he could take him out of that situation. while calyx is simply scared of him by this point

130

lady protector | 7.5 spoilers @bluberryffxiv.bsky.social · 7h

emet-selch got two whole expansions phoning in the sympathy while calyx is just "emotionless prick behind everything wrong in alexandria. hes 11 btw". like. hello.

010

lady protector | 7.5 spoilers @bluberryffxiv.bsky.social · 7h

been thinking about calyx and god i will never get over their weird decision to hone in on the cold smug intellectual angle over the "literal child saddled with the weight of his world" one (in english at least)

100% intentionally. up to then bonana had always been trying to justify his battles to himself, but this was the first time he didnt. he didnt care how anyone felt about his decision to stay and fight, he only wanted to kill. for the first time they met each other on equal ground -

#loreposts more thoughts on this: part of why this isnt explicitly named is because the terms used are a modern understanding of an ancient system that can be traced to distant southern seas history. a loose translation of the historical terms would be "one who leads" and "one who is lead"

in the middle path theres a couple routes that involve killing the treant+caterpillars in a specific way to activate an arcane circle that grows a tree branch to form a new path. its a very game-y scenario but when you consider that area used to be a town it takes on an interesting context

also since im thinking about it i have never understood the humor in pointing how many lala-eating monsters there are in the world. like logistically speaking that is not very impressive or notable. thats like me smugly telling people i can swallow a peanut whole

050

lady protector | 7.5 spoilers @bluberryffxiv.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

we dont talk enough about the caterpillar sacrifice circle apparently used by aloalos previous residents to upkeep their branch roads. like theres an implication they regularly had to do that

the whole premise of the dungeon is you are going there to thin an out-of-control population of dangerous animals, because no one else has been there to do so for 100 years. hunting was significant to the people that lived there. please. please. on my knees

2120

lady protector | 7.5 spoilers @bluberryffxiv.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

concept i wish i could beam into everyones head is that lalafell are not completely helpless prey animals but are in fact canonized as hunters by way of aloalo's worldbuilding. but explaining that would require explaining a bunch of ambient environmental design and analysis

020

lady protector | 7.5 spoilers @bluberryffxiv.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

keep in mind a lot of this is throwing spaghetti at the wall and i genuinely will not know what direction ill go in until ec comes out, partly because im a little nervous about straying too far from how canon wants to depict the wol and having to rewrite too much down the road

#bbanswers yes. but also no. bonanas generally agreeable, kind, passionate, exciting, etc. but he also sucks a lot when hes in a bad mood, which is sometimes often. if you dont mind someone unafraid of being abrasive and outspoken hes your woman i suppose
