IU Students Ride FREE on Bloomington Transit Buses.

We’re just going to keep it simple: Show your Crimson Card & hop on!

IU students, faculty and staff can ride Bloomington Transit buses fare-free (excluding Route 12) during the 2026-27 academic year.

IU riders will only be required to show their Crimson Card to the driver – no tapping/scanning or downloading an app necessary.

Boarding procedures for IU riders with ACTIVE Crimson Cards:

Physical Crimson Card:
Show your Physical Crimson Card to the driver as you board the bus. You may tap/scan the Physical Crimson Card on the validator machine if you prefer, but it is not required.

Digital Crimson Card:
Open the Digital Crimson Card on your mobile device and show it to the driver as you board the bus.
