It’s time. It’s time for self-indulgent eggpreg dragon AU…

While it is possible for a dragon to lay their clutch of eggs without a carrier to incubate & develop them in, there is a known condition thought to be brought on by prolonged periods of high stress, in which ovipositor dysfunction may continue for months unless the clutch is laid in a trusted carrier.
Undeveloped & dormant eggs will build up within the dragon, which may cause bloating, discomfort, and increased sensitivity to touch.
Irritability and an increased libido are commonly seen in association with this condition, and often pass after the clutch has been successfully laid.
It may lead to large clutch sizes if left unaddressed.

In the background, Qifrey has his head in his hands and cries: “I knew this was a bad idea—“

The next segment is labelled “6 weeks later…”
Qifrey hovers anxiously in front of Olruggio, who now appears heavily pregnant, and is cradling his belly and rubbing his back. Qifrey is fidgeting with his hands in front of himself, fretting: “This was far too big for your first clutch, I’m so sorry Olly…”
Olruggio reassures him, saying “It’s fine, Qifrey… you’ll recall I asked for this…”
Flustered, ashamed, and frantic, Qifrey replies “…still!!!”

The last segment takes up the bottom third of the page and shows Qifrey panicking and hovering at Olruggio’s side as he lays the eggs on the cushioned platform near his work desk. Olruggio’s legs are wide open, his face a flushed and strained grimace, and he’s in the middle of laying. He’s groaning out “Hah— Mmngh— Fuck—“ through the effort.
Eight eggs of somewhat varied sizes are already laid in front of him as he pushes through laying the ninth, and by the size of his belly, it doesn’t look like it’s close to being over.

YEP… this is the design V (starsherald on tumblr!) and I came up with together when we got into brainstorming the fankid AU to go with this… her name is Astelia (Lia for short)

Olruggio, hesitantly and with an undertone of dread, says to Qifrey as a rhetorical question, “It’s still goin’… How…”

Olruggio, in that same outfit of just his long tunic shirt, looks down with his hands on his hips at his belly after however long he spent on the void toilet. With most of his waters gone, the once-massive baby bump is tiny, labelled “Itty bitty bump…”
He looks skeptical and tired with an eyebrow raised as he talks at his belly, saying “Right, there’s no way you needed *that* much for me to carry around.”

It seems like it’s a complete wooden frame on all four sides plus loose fabric attached… somehow? Less of a traditional hammock and more of a weird loose bed-shaped bunch of fabric and wood.
