So, my office bff has left for greener pastures. I’m old enough to be her mom (albeit a teen mom), but we got along just swimmingly 💕 And apparently, when I was away last week, she hid a bunch of sticky notes around my office 😭

What an awful kind of week (see: follow-up posts). I leave on Tues. for a work trip, and the timing is terrible but also kind of perfect? Leaving responsibility behind when things *gestures to literally everything* are messy, chaotic, and uncertain feels like it could be an emotional reset.

Her death doesn't feel real, and maybe that's because she was thought to be a true-blue angel on earth, so her time always felt limited. But I think we can all agree on this: we were darn lucky to be alive during this magical woman's life, to witness her talent, kindness, & everything in between ❤️

BTW, we watched WHAS last night w/ our kids. The 12yo didn't get much of the humor and still enjoyed it ok, but—boy oh boy—the 14yo LOVED it. He's since declared it as one of his 4 favorite non-horror movies. The other 3 being Dazed & Confused, Empire Records, and COOL fucking RUNNINGS.

I just dropped Milo off for his freshman orientation & into a bunch of spirited teenagers, aka everything my kid is not. I told him that even if someone is preppy to try & be nice because he’s a good guy. He told me that he wouldn’t actively try to be mean. Can’t wait to hear how it goes.

Update: It's not great, but it's also not the worst. We still don't know what caused his episode (bc it could be a number of things), but they did see something on his chest x-ray that could be concerning, and recommend seeing a specialist for a CT scan.

I work for local government, and we have a cemetery groundskeeper who is every bit as kooky as you want him to be. When he swings by the main office building, he ALWAYS stops to tell a dad joke, and it's delightful. This morning: "Did you hear about the fake potato? I heard he was an imiTATER."
