A fun little linocut commission I was asked to do earlier in the year of an authors childhood pets who featured in her memoir - www.forestavenuepress.com/bookshop/p/p...

Spooky season is coming! Couldn’t resist getting some treats and these tins on my trip into town. M&S tins are becoming a bit of a tradition and this Lush one was just too good to miss! 🎃🎃🎃

New linocut print! My interpretation of a Hand of Glory (mummified hand of a hangman used for opening locks and occult purposes!). Mine is obvs a bit more embellished and tatted up+it would usually hold a candle, not be one! Whitby Museum has the only surviving one I believe! Available on the shops!

Personally I don't, I just tend to sharpen my tools get time I sit to carve which helps. This is just the typical 'battleship' hessian backed stuff. If it gets a bit old and dries out it can be harder, but usually I find it pretty easy to get on with.

Carving some flames 🔥 on the new linocut.

Adding a little skull to this new linocut print - because why not everyone loves a 💀 right?

Fiddly fingerprint carving with my smallest gouge. Luckily the lino didn’t break which is always a risk!

Taking it slow with a new linocut print. Enjoying the meditative flow that comes from working on a new piece, can't really rush traditional printmaking either, well not safely. A little detail to focus on to start.

Ooo it's been a very long time since I posted anything - sorry about that! I've had a pretty busy start to the year tho, with some lovely linocut commissions like the one pictured. More details on how to commission me if that piques your interest! www.blockforest.co.uk/pages/commis...

Such sad news to hear of the passing of Sam Neill - I only just rewatched his stella performance in Event Horizon over the weekend. A real actor from my childhood as Jurassic Park was a particular obsession growing up. You’ll be sorely missed!

Happy Alien Day!! Think I might have to put one of these iconic films on tonight. Not sure which one tho - I honestly love them all (yes even Prometheus and Covenant). Here’s a little linocut print I made a lifetime ago - should try my hand at the xenomorph again now I’ve been carving longer!

0121

Mikey @blockforest.co.uk · 31/03/2026

oh well that's ideal!! Well I'd love a copy if you're able 🖤

Mikey @blockforest.co.uk · 29/03/2026

That's so nice of you - I wouldn't want to put you out tho, especially as sending post internationally is so expensive these days! I'll be getting a copy of the zine so will be able to admire it in that anyway - although I'm sure the actual lino version is even more impressive 🖤

Mikey @blockforest.co.uk · 29/03/2026

It's great! And that makes sense for doing extra runs, I do a lot of mine limited edition now so just print a small batch and its done :)

Mikey @blockforest.co.uk · 28/03/2026

Glad you enjoyed them! Love that Remmick scene - you’ve done a lovely job catching the energy and well done on the registration - 3 blocks are always tricky, I tend to go for reductions these days to make it a little easier. 🖤🧛🏻

I am deeply honoured to have been a small part of such a huge amazing film. If it’s the only film I ever get to work on then I can’t think of one that I would have rather been a part of! 🧛🏻🖤🏆

🏆 And Ryan Coogler’s rightful win for best original screenplay for writing such an amazing story that will undoubtedly stand the test of time! Many congrats to all the cast, and all the winners and nominees.

If I’d known back at the end of 2024 that I was making artwork that would feature in a multi Oscar winning movie, I would never have believed it! Utterly thrilled to see the team of Sinners get so much deserved recognition! 🏆🏆🏆🏆

Finally got this amazing screenprint by the late, great Dan Hillier framed and up. It’s such a breathtaking print and only wish Dan had been around longer to continue producing such outstanding work like this. Solely missed!

Wishing everyone a lovely valentines day! Thanks to everyone who bought a card this year - it has been an awful start to the year with sales massively down, so really appreciate those of you who grabbed something this time around! 🖤 I’m off to watch some horror films as my love life is sadly dead 💀

What a fitting day for these beautiful vinyls from Made by Mutant to show up given Sinners just won best score and best compilation soundtrack at the Grammy’s! I picked up this copy as only just learned they used my prologue illustrations for the sleeves! Here they are with the original print I made

Honestly so surreal to have been a tiny part of Sinners and seeing it blow up the way it has. Never for a million years thought I would have my work feature in an Oscar nominated film 🤯

Printing up one of the fav linocut cards - always does well for Valentines altho it’s slow this year, has everyone broken up or something? P.s. never thought I’d use a Jonas brothers song but this fit too well 😂 Available over on the shops!

Mikey @blockforest.co.uk · 19/01/2026

Yay, I'm so glad it was impactful, that was always the hope for the sequence :)

A little peek into the making of one of my linocut illustrations for ‘Sinners’. Can’t believe this is a year ago, and still surreal to have my work on film. You can read more in detail in my portfolio over on my website. www.blockforest.co.uk #sinners #Illustration #Art #linocut #sinnersmovie

It happens to be best of us! Just the hazards of the tools really. In this weather if the lino is getting cold, and the tools are skidding on the surface, then pop the lino block on the radiator for a little while, or blast it with a hair dryer for a min it is softens it up a bit which can help.

Mikey @blockforest.co.uk · 08/01/2026

Oh I’ve had plenty of days like that - be careful 🥰
