you’re interested I’d recommend the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. They host a lot of academic level reference articles with extensive bibliographies if you want to dig deeper. The articles on Critical Theory, Aesthetics in Critical Theory, and Feminist Aesthetics are a good place to start.

It feels like they actually are trying again with RE9. They pulled the character stuff that worked for Leon and Ada in RE6 (mostly from Ada’s campaign) and put it into RE4 and Separate Ways. The RC cover up then can get rebooted in RE9 with Helena’s “getting caught up in conspiracy” audience
