It didn't disappoint. These burns are an important part of resource management in the Everglades to reduce hazardous fuel and maintain fire adapted ecosystems. 030

Its an old growth forest known for humongous trees! I arrived early as this place fills up fast. Its smak-dab in the middle of the highly travelled Nanaimo-Tofino route. Its a total fairlyland! 1112

Next day I went into Tofino before returning. I stopped at Long Beach and watched the surfers. Tofino reminded me a little bit of Key West, and not in a good way. 030

On my way back from an outing, I was in awe of all the cherry blossom trees in people's yards. But walk a bit further and magic is just waiting. This isn't "old growth", but they weren't clear cut, so some trees here might be ancient. All I know, they are beautiful! 020

Being in the middle of the dry season, the water was way low so getting a little closer than I normally do was quite easy.
