i also like to think a lot of magic-based tech and appliances are very prone to failing for one reason for another because magic is a very delicate thing that no one wants to bother doing the proper QA for they instead just release "addons" or "updates" that claim to fix the issue in question...

unbeatable's first 2 hours are also an utter mess because you get nothing answered about the world you're in and so you're not hooked with anything "why am i suddenly waking up here and why is this girl telling me to stash this guitar" the question thrown up in the air, only to never be answered!!!

this is why i have such immense disdain towards block tales' chapter 3 it's because in NO part of the game in chapter 1 or chapter 2 did it portray the player character being affected by what the swords have done to people and then it suddenly has the gall to be a traumadump chapter????

you need to give your audience a *firm* reason to care about your story because if you don't, there will barely be any weight to any of the "impactful" scenes you've set up- it's basically just throwing an emotional cottonball at your audience
