She was excited to meet my friends and me, but unfortunately, her health prevented her from doing so. This loss has made everything feel even more personal and meaningful to me.

I first learned about Morgen online through conversations about trans rights and politics. Hoping to offer her support and friendship, I invited Morgen to join my local trans community and social group—something she had never known existed.

Two weeks ago, I experienced something that really touched my heart. I lost a dear member of my local community—a trans girl around my age named Morgen.

I wasn’t open about my own identity at that time, but to me, Charlotte’s story feels deeply connected to what Brianna’s loss represents for many of my transgender friends.

For example, in 2026, it has only been 3 years since Brianna Ghey, a 16-year-old, was tragically murdered in a hate crime fuelled by anti-trans bias.

What's really heartbreaking is that the kind of hate Charlotte experienced is sadly all too common for many LGBTQ+ individuals and people from the global majority.

I never knew Charlotte Fosgate personally— I only found out about her when I heard how much hurt and hate she faced, which sadly contributed to her taking her own life. The online reactions to her passing were mostly filled with hurtful words and negativity.

I, and others, are desperately tired of every single time something comes out that bans women from womens spaces for situations they can't control, "dignity and respect" or "kindness and care" gets wheeled out. Words mean nothing. It's high time organisations grow a backbone.

I went to town this week, spotted some homophobic graffiti in a Public Car Park. Things like this graffiti might make locals feel unsafe. Returned today to remove the offensive graffiti. Just one small thing our local Greens are doing. Let’s take PRIDE in our local area. join.greenparty.org.uk
