Cross Bronx Expressway -- my public sector was too quick to build housing and it left us in a rough budgeting spot. Community and I survived through the 40s, 50s, and 60s to get to the end with Private sector's win. Lots learned for next time though.

I've played a few games. @kenkuhn.bsky.social noticed that I only track about 70% if we compare stats, and even so I'm in the thousands. For me, games provide a bit of structure while hanging out with my favorite people, and my partner and I love to host.

Testing out a significant simplification in Echo from the Dark.

Weirdly shaped pawns for Echo from the Dark, because that's what I still have lying around.

Getting it on the table and played is job #1, for sure.

Dreams in Darkness, a kriegsspiel where the prototype used a chess set and a tarot deck.

Ozymandias, about the fall of galactic empires, with hand-drawn cards, plastic poker chips, and some random chess pieces. Ideas from this eventually became Echo from the Dark.

An early modular stocks and shares game, using a funny tile shape I wanted to play around with years ago. Random pawns and disks to fill out components.

Three great games of Echo from the Dark at Circle DC this weekend. Lots of great players and some crazy situations -- including a three-way tie yesterday. This is from today's game, see alt text for details.

Asteria Collective (red) has built themselves a technocracy out of the ashes of the Empire (blue). The Guild (yellow) was ascendant until a series of conflicts late game, and the Swords of the Metallic Star (green) was in the process of moving out when the end came.

All the luck is on the American side this morning: - US Light Mortars were right on target. - GE Fire activation saw two rolls negated by hindrance (had to roll a 1 across either of 2d10 twice) - US Opportunity Fire from the M4A1 (-1 die size down to 2d8) hit twice without becoming spent.

Three German tanks have taken a town, but light mortar barrage and incoming fire has taken far more of a toll on the defenders than they were able to dish out.
