I managed to have a great birthday thanks to lovely friends, but I'm facing more power bill issues even this far out from losing my dad. I simply can't afford it, and they threaten to turn it off at the beginning of every month. If anyone can help: ko-fi.com/blinkingrune

TV Series 16: The Paper (S2) Rating: 3/5 There's a manic energy to this season, especially in the lead, that I really enjoyed. I think the story beats suffer from being a 10 episode season and it feels like I'm waiting for more depth because of it, but it's solid. Sabrina Impacciatore is fantastic.

Movie 10: The Mandalorian and Grogu Rating: 3/5 I came here for a great time and I got one. The story is fine, but the series has always played like a cooler, 'better than the last trilogy' Star Wars, so it works. It might not be Andor, but I am not immune to Baby Yoda and I wasn't bored.

Movie 9: Coyote Vs Acme Rating: 5/5 This movie is really good; there's so much here that's timely and hopeful, and at the same time they're able to pull so so much emotion out of a famously antagonistic and silent character? Incredibly impressive, the animation was so smooth. Good for Coyote!

I didn't realize I was heading into the final battle, though? I was just exploring the pirate base looking for power-ups and then a giant robot bird started attacking me and oops escape scene oops roll credits. So I didn't like how anticlimactic it was! Very strong, solid game tho. I stand by that.

Video Game 15: Metroid: Zero Mission Rating: 4/5 This game is a perfect example of 'a solid game.' It plays well, it's fun and exciting, there's nothing really wrong with it or enough to say it's a 5/5. The added stealth section was extremely fun, and I love those classic Metroid tunes.

Books 6 & 7: Murder, She Wrote: Gin & Daggers + Manhattans & Murders Rating: N/A Yeah. I buy these used and read them when I can. Whether or not you consider this literature aside, reading through Jessica Fletcher's thought processes is always incredibly engaging. Fun books if you're into it.

Book 5: All of Us Murderers Rating: 3/5 Overall, solid. I love the ADHD rep in the protagonist, the hateful banter is so intense and enjoyable, and the atmosphere the book sets up is incredible. Parts of the plot felt structurally weak to me, and the (gay!) romance was too saccharine for me.

Video Game 14: The Incident at Galley House Rating: 5/5 If you like sleuthing games, this one is an absolute must-play. I wish the game was a bit longer or harder but that's only because I thoroughly enjoyed it. I won't say much more about it: it's spooky and unnerving but incredibly cool.

Video Game 13: Urban Myth Dissolution Center Rating: 3/5 The pixel art is incredible. The game is very cool in terms of style—and the music is fun, too. But the writing/localization feels slightly off, the gameplay can be quite tedious, and the story is a bit unsatisfying. YMMV on this one.

Movie 8: Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender Rating: 4/5 I want to see more animation like this. My only complaint is that the movie is too short; the supporting cast gets absolutely zero breathing room. But it's gorgeous, the writing is snappy and amusing, it has heart. Tired of Paramount/CBS, though.

TV Series 15: Bridgerton Rating (S1): 2/5 Rating (S2): 4/5 Rating (S3): 3/5 Rating (S4): 4/5 I finally watched the thing! It's a lot of fun. I don't think Bridgerton is especially deep most of the time, but it has a sort of pull where you want to keep watching the drama. It's easy to watch.

Movie 7: Stop! That! Train! Rating: 3/5 It's not the most amazing movie ever (and I really think they used AI for the train, which is disappointing), but it got consistent chuckles out of me. Ginger Minj and Jujubee really elevate it, they're a delight on screen together.

Movie 6: The Devil Wears Prada 2 Rating: 2/5 It's fine???? It's just kind of a different version of the original??? I really don't know why they made this (no, I do, the answer is $). Same kind of plots, same characters doing slightly different things. It's enjoyable, but dull, I guess? IDK.

Game 12: Metroid Prime Remastered Rating: 3/5 Oof. The first half of the game is so enjoyable, but then it becomes clustered and tedious. It's very haunting and the best parts are exploration and combat, but the platforming is a bit rough. Most of the items I collected felt pointless.

Anime 21: Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo Rating: 3/5 It's definitely worth watching once. The adaptation is really out there and the animation and style (and dub) are very enjoyable. There's a lot of flair to it. I mean, there's not much else to say, it's Sci-Fi Monte Cristo.

Movie 5: Resident Evil: Degeneration Rating: 3/5 Yes, it all looks like video game cutscenes because it's a CGI film from 2008, but I thought that was utterly charming. Plot was fine, character writing was fine. I group watched this and it was a blast tbh. A very fun movie but not a great one.

Anime 20: MARRIAGETOXIN Rating: 5/5 A seamless and hilarious blend of comedy, romance, and battle shounen, this show had me and my partner in stitches at every turn. Every character they introduce is loveable, the jokes always land. It's queer friendly, and there's a very sweet tone to it as well.

Video Game 11(ish): Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways Rating: 5/5 Sometimes more of a great thing is still a great thing. A lot of Ada's sections are incredibly fun to play, and I really love Ada herself so I have zero real complaints. It might've been nice to see a few newer areas but idk. Very fun.

Video Game 10: Resident Evil 4 (Remake) Rating: 5/5 Amazing! Leon always lives up to the hype, and I loved Ashley and Ada. The game feels too long for a second but then picks up right after. Great combat, great puzzles, great environments to explore, I can see why this game set a standard in 2005.

TV Show 14: Little House on the Prairie (2026) Rating: 2/5 Idk quite how to say this, but it feels very...Netflix'd. The story is cute, but I was kind of annoyed by every single character. Despite being a 'good' person, Pa Ingalls is unnerving and weird. I'd be better off with the old show.

TV Show 13: Elle Rating: 2/5 A few of the subplots are novel-ish, and Lexi Minetree plays a convincing young Reese Witherspoon. The rest is just sort of shallow nonsense with weird decisions that make the entire thing feel like a parody or satire instead of a famous character's backstory.

Anime 19: Gintama: Mr. Ginpachi's Zany Class Rating: N/A; If you liked Gintama, you'll like this. I love the Gintama voice actors. I could listen to them do anything. I could even close my eyes and listen to them bicker without the subtitles and I'd still have fun. Weakest part? Not enough Kagura.

Movie 4: Supergirl Rating: 4/5 They pacified Lobo too much, but Millie Alcock's acting/take on Supergirl is honestly very strong. It might not be a deep movie, but it's a fun romp with very few low points. I was thoroughly entertained the entire time and enjoyed how personal the story felt.

Anime 18: Bocchi the Rock! Rating: 4/5 Bocchi is no doubt a top tier protagonist. The anime is so warm, and the direction is incredible. The music is very fun, and the progression feels natural, it's all very cool. The supporting cast isn't as interesting yet, but I think S2 will be even better.

Video Game 9: Resident Evil Zero Rating: 4/5, surprisingly Aside from an ass inventory system and a few confusing moments, Rebecca's turn as protag is very cool. I liked the puzzle solving and party splitting, but some of the combat was frustrating. And god, the items, but I loved the leads.

Video Game 8: Resident Evil 3 (Remake) Rating: 3/5 Parts of this game are very fun, parts of this game are much less impressive than RE2R. Anime 16: Summertime Rendering Rating: 4/5 Out of all the time loop media I've experienced, this is one of the strongest. I think character balance/writing could have been stronger and there's a lagging point or two, but otherwise this anime is exciting pretty much nonstop.
