I almost cropped the bags out of the foreground to make the frame cleaner. But they’re his. They belong to the moment, just like the crossed ankles and the stance. Sometimes making a photo too neat strips away the truth of the space. 📸: @misterburrisp.bsky.social #Photography #ArtSky #PortraitSky

A high-contrast black-and-white portrait of a man named Mikie sitting on a green wooden park bench against a chain-link fence. He sits flat against the back of the bench, his arms thrown open wide across the top wood rail, while his legs are tightly crossed at the ankles. In the immediate foreground, a crumpled reusable grocery bag sits on the pavement. The monochrome tones highlight the raw geometry of his posture, the metallic texture of the fence, and the stillness of the moment.

The same portrait of Mikie on the park bench, presented in full color. The scene features a sharp, vibrant contrast between lush green ivy growing on the chain-link fence and a bright orange-red backdrop visible through the wire grid. In the foreground, the reusable grocery bag is revealed to be a bright color, adding a layer of messy, real-world environmental noise to the frame that alters the quiet mood of the black-and-white version.
