i think they're just mad at the fact they didn't help themselves early on or were denied help. the frustration is valid, the judging people who get help now is obviously not ok

when I got stuck in YIIK the game told me to walk for 20 miles until I solved the puzzle and said it would whip me if I didn't do it

obviously we still need whatever assistance our body requires. I'm glad you got what you needed! Better to fix this now than to be left with permanent damage as we age. I had a coworker (34 at the time) who kept refusing a cane and now he has severe back problems that make him bedridden often.

I'm gonna be 28 next month and am hoping people don't bother me about it. I hate that people think it's their business even if they think they're just being funny. Plus it's not like we're stealing this aid from other people. I would stay standing if someone with less mobility needed my seat, but--

If I'm being serious, though, I still wouldn't really call myself disabled. But, I'm coming to terms with the fact that me not using that label doesn't mean I should deny myself an accessible item that will help with pain. My body doesn't care what I label it. It just wants mobility without pain.

I think that was my biggest fear, honestly. The feeling of "you don't really need it and people will judge you" despite being in constant pain. I think it also was the logic of "well, I work out and am able bodied so I really don't need it" even though I walk with a visible limp and always have.

everyone clap for my umbilical cord which tried to strangle me to death upon birth and denied my brain scrumptious oxygen which led to this whole issue.

this is so funny because I actually bought a cane that has a wolf head on the handle

i walked for 5 hours with no full breaks for two days this last weekend while at a festival and my back and hip pain got so bad I finally had to bite the bullet and order a cane. (I have mild hemiplegic cerebral palsy that makes it so my body weight goes mostly on my right side when walking)
