I made this yesterday but waited until today to post it. More art of that character that I still haven't named, though I might go with "Eve" or something (because she's rendered in Eevee). She's at the zoo! #3dart #oc #surreal

Thing i saw in the corner of my eye

something basking in a dull yellow light, flower like patterns of brighter color float around behind the figure from the light. A large black shape is hunched over casting a shadow. it branches off leading into a round red shape with many red threads stretching all over. the red shape has a thin eye that droops to one side ambiguously.

@jebox.bsky.social Did you guys call the packed mud block that to avoid using cultural names like adobe or cob for things in game or to avoid conflict with Adobe, the company? Are you allowed to talk about this kind of thing? How do you feel about the rooted dirt block, and why wasnt it used more?

Uhm... I would use photoshop and pixelate them by hand. I'd have Minecraft running so I always could see the texture in the game. I was particularly trying to avoid strong repeating patterns, and we tended to use a light noise filter to avoid making it look plastic. It was programmer's art 🤪

"Pokemon" is short for "pocket monsters". "Digimon" is short for "digital monsters". Therefore, "salmon" is short for "saltwater monsters". (You might object: salmon spend a big part of their life in freshwater. But pokemon spend a big part of their life outside pockets too!)

Yeah, if we were to add something like the creeper today, we would likely restrict it to certain biomes or other circumstances. People were overreacting to the design video. There is always a bunch of smaller things that I'd like to tweak, of course, but I'm discussing with the team about those.

Personally I am not a fan of this mechanic. When we did Nether Update we discussed removing it, but it has become a very iconic behavior and it's also used to defeat the ender dragon.

@jebox.bsky.social Do you feel like beds exploding in the nether still fits the vibe of the game? To me it feels like a bad joke from a developer who hates their players. Its "intentional game design" doesnt help. A nether/end themed nightmare waking the player up would feel much more appropriate.

I doubt that since I added guardians in 2014, and Notch stopped working on Minecraft at the end of 2011. Elder guardians guarantee 3 sponges even if the monument doesn't have a sponge room.

I used to think it was weird that people didn't like Minecraft, like fair its not for everyone but in the back of my head i would always blame them for some reason. But i just realized that i done like DnD, i don't hate it but its just not for me. Lots of stuff i like is in it, but i don't like it.

@jebox.bsky.social Has the team ever considered adding more armor slots like gauntlets or masks. They could be on a lower layer like the leg armor slot, underneath the rest. I've always wanted to be fully covered in armor, could give some buffs.
