one of my brothers worked with African wild dogs a few years back and I’ve been a bit obsessed with drawing them ever since then #watercolor #inkdrawing #wildlifeart #animalart #sketchbook

it’s becoming increasingly clear to me that a lot of people don’t view rape as actual violence. no one would be out here saying that we should forgive or move on from a nazi beating someone at a protest so why should people demand that we tolerate rapists?

fortunately there have been some countries that have banned diclofenac for veterinary use though there still are problems with it being used illegally

011

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

if a vulture eats animals that had recently been treated using diclofenac the drug will build up fairly quickly in their systems and eventually kill then.

111

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

one of the major causes of accidental poisoning in Africa, Europe and Asia is diclofenac which is a anti-inflammatory drug used in veterinary medicine and is extremely toxic for vultures

111

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

the biggest threats to white-backed vultures are habitat loss especially loss of nesting sites and accidental and intentional poisoning.

111

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

when the white backed vulture was first assessed in 1988 it was considered a species of least concern but then in 2012 it was declared endangered, in 2015 was declared critically endangered and in 2024 a study found that their population has declined by 86%

111

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

it is hoped that slender-billed vultures bred in captivity will be able to be released into these protected areas to boost their population and survival chances

000

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

A group called SAVE (saving Asia’s vulture from extinction) is working with other conservation groups to create vulture safe zones which are heavily protected areas that have at least a 100 km radius around important breeding areas.

100

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

slender-billed vultures were only recently recognized as a separate species from the Indian or long-billed vulture which is wild to me because those two species really do not look like each other even from a distance.

100

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

slender-billed vultures are a critically endangered species with fewer than 870 adult individuals left in the wild. they are found all over India as well as in small areas of Bangladesh, Nepal, Burma and Cambodia. #slenderbilledvulture #birdart #wildlifeart #animalart #linocutprint #blockprint #art

and those dams slow down rivers creating healthy wetlands which act as fire breaks

030

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

wolves indirectly help prevent the kinds of devastating wildfires that we’ve gotten use to seeing out west. wolves hunt deer and elk which prevents them from getting overpopulated and overgrazing which allows trees especially willows to grow well which provides food for beavers which build dams

141

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

080

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

like I’m sorry but I don’t believe the fancy spellcheck/word guesser is going to do something by itself to end the world. maybe the ceos of these companies are up to some bullshit that they hope will kill a lot of people but that’s a ceo problem not an ai will end the world problem

030

phoenix @blessedscavengers.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

honestly I genuinely believe that its a good idea for people in a society with so many guns to have unloading and disassembling a gun as part of our general education. I think that perhaps we would have less accidents involving guns if people from a young age were taught how to handle them safely
