I made a fun cool comparison gif of the changes (very fun, very very cool) going back to old paintings is fun, it's a nice relaxing challenge to remix them or improve them or just try something different #art #gif #solivaga

QRP your art with insanely strong silhouette! This is one I made as a kid, so not reflective of my current style, but it's the most silhouettey image I can think of. Made the night I found out Steve Irwin died. I listened to a cover of "Blackbird" on repeat for hours while I drew it and cried.

Silhouette of a blackbird flying out of tangled underbrush against a warm glowing background.

I'll try to remember to take photos or videos of them at all angles! they're so well designed! and hey, old writijng is still good writing. i'll admit I miss the homestuck fandom so much, those fandoms that have a huge creative scene are so far and few between

That is AWESOME!! Poor leonard though lmao (looove radahn's fight, love how you composed the shot to get that powerful driving force in!)

An old illustration I made for a charity fanzine back in the day of my tarnished Dhein "the Everburning Comet" freeing the stars and putting them back into motion

Aren't they cute?? He designed them and it's wild to me how much they look just like the sprites in Plush Form. Shapes are so good rofl I should post some more of my old fanart or some more of the work I did for Homestuck/Hiveswap

Oh… to be laughed at by a small fox 😔🫴💚

Omg i meant to say boon not GOON lmao Why of all typos did it have to be THAT

120

requires a lot of backwards searching with how much is unsourced, but it's not that bad with revrerse image searches and (artists and photographers who actually sign/tag their work!!) ... does always make me laugh when pinterest glitches tho and every feed goes full Live Laugh Love mode tho

Yeah... I feel like artists have such a weird relationship with pinterest lol On one hand, I hate pinterest so much. so much theft, esp frustrating given the idea of a (public bookmark boards) is great! on the other, I love pinterest. I have found so many artists and photographers I just adore

mmm nice pop of black silhouettes against that lovely green esp Always gotta love a good silhouette for walking scenes, esp if you go the full shadow mode!

Thank you!! love big fuzzy hooves on draft horses, esp since the animator in me loves a good follow through accent for showing motion LOL ah, the truest goon of fluffy tufts, capes and tails

eyy thank you!! the original is just too lost in the same values, wanted to do a bright pop when I opened it initially to adjust them... and then, yeah lol I guess it's still an adjustment! technically :3

saaame, friend. same. still just wanna say "fuck it", i'd rather get my shit done faster and enjoy the process 100% (*okay, I do enjoy doing meticulous, needless detail. so much so I have to stop myself from doing so, but doing it because I feel like I HAVE TO isn't as fun lol)

130

112221

it's something i never stressed over before because I enjoy that aspect of painting so much, but now I find myself stressing over it. it sucks because I took such a huge noticable hit in traffic/follows when slop got big and I've always suspected my work looks like that shit at a glance 😒

250

it's an annoying waste of time feeling like every detail neesd to be cleaned up and 500% consistent because those 'spot the slop!' checklists just tell people to look for broad things every artist does instead of explaining how, exactly, it's wrong and such

170

drawing my character's hair differently between panels, not leaving off a detail here or there between panels. etc. etc. just got to thinking about it because when I was touching up my halloween pic SO much of it was rough and loose

190

-WHAT to look for with mushed detail and what SORT of inconsistencies and showed tell-tale "no human and no human in charge of a program's tools will make this weird sort of mark" signs instead of just listing vague general 'tells' yes, certain inconsistencies are dead giveaways, not me slightly

190

it sucks so much too because I LOVE how insinuated detail looks! I love rough unfinished parts of a painting that look finished. they give so much texture and keep that feeling that sketches have that make them feel so lively I wish those "how to spot slop" lists actually told people-

180

really should just put it out of my mind and do it anyway. Why should I have to spend so much extra time on something. I know for a fact this sort of worrying is why i've been so much slower than usual in my art. I always loved painting tricks and now they're "slop detection" pffft well whatever 🐀🗡️

2360

It bothers me that I feel more and more uneasy about using insinuated detail in final pieces and moving on when a squiggled paint stroke looks "correct at a glance" because. yeah.

4500

ahh thank you KSDAJFJKf I love drawing his hands, even if sometimes I know there's a certain acting gesture I really want but can't 100% visualize it because I have stuibby little hands lmao combination obsession with sailor moon hands and milt kahl hands tho lksjdfjkl

huh... that is wild if true! if you dont' mind I might test that in a few in this reply chain. I posted it on desktop so I could type without making a fool of myself. I know the close up posted to tumblr in perfect color with perfect quality. wtf is with bluesky lksjdfjkl

100

thank you for both kindness and for cute eevee! TT

Ahh thank you!!! I got so carried away with it 😤💦💦

Ahh thank you!! That metacarpal bone is so funny with how much extra personality it can give a gesture but also how it can super clutter another gesture lmao so let’s just do both!

Oh! Im … gonna be completely honest I have no idea how to answer that lmao Ive been using tumblr p much daily since 2009(2010?) Really you just post lol the more open/casual/blabby you are the better. Follow me over there and I’ll reblog you!

okay, well, Bluesky is still crunching and desaturating the colors so OH WELL lol they're accurate in the full view at least.

1110

the crunch and color-fuckery was driving me up the wall on the closeup, so I did a new saveout and sent it to myself via drop box instead Closeups for their faces and details When I opened this painting my intent was to just fix its values, but I ended up...well. Anyway it's like new now!
