I plan on entering Reedsy’s Inaugural Literary Prize. It is a short story contest with an entry fee of $20 and the total prize money is $1,500. According to newpages.com, the entry fee should be less than or equal to 10% of the total prize money. I wrote it down as a math problem.

Not having power (and thus, WiFi) for 3+ hours is very isolating. I’m posting via a mobile hotspot right now and I want to express my sheer displeasure at corporations (looking at you, Entergy) and our reliance on them for virtually everything. Attached is their statement blowing smoke up our asses.

Entergy’s statement via social media regarding widespread power outages in the area. It reads, “We restore customers in a planned and deliberate order. We start with essential services, move on to large neighborhoods and then to individual homes. Additionally, we use a methodical and calculated process to bringing customers back online after an outage in very cold weather, regardless of whether the initial cause of the outage was specifically weather-related. Rather than simply energizing an entire power line all at once, we must bring customers back online one section at a time to avoid damaging our system and making the situation worse. Please know that we are working as fast as we can to restore power safely.”
