New point, Pat just pointed at the start of today’s streams that part of the reasons for complaints (of input unresponsiveness) is there’s a bug/flaw where at 60fps there’s 8 frames of input lag, but at 120fps or higher there’s 3 frames of input lag. Needs to be patched, makes platforming harder.

Not really, people keep getting fooled into thinking it uses one but they’re clearly swapping between completely different loadouts each time they hide a clever cut in the footage to a different area, and there are a lot of cuts.

Also as long as you’re in the Gap, you don’t have to commit to what you respec’d to until you leave the Gap, so you could try them all out against that punching bag enemy to test the feel and damage/stagger balance before locking it in.

I haven’t had hands on the game myself, but I saw some reviewers getting lots out of the Hammer secondary and other stagger-heavy choices to keep the executions and Dominance chain going. I think Hammer gives lots more stagger than Extend/Whip in exchange for being trickier to use.

Personally I have more hope in the Nexus mods like you mentioned today adding complexity than in some hidden complexity in the gameplay, especially with everything you pointed out about every fight being in a square arena where the environment and obstacles don’t matter. Haven’t played yet though!

The tactic was mentioned several times in chat while you were playing (some of the earlier reviewers hit on the tactic and using stagger-focused weapons), but we didn’t do a good job of flagging and dragging it to your attention. It adds a drop more complexity, but most of your complaints remain.

I think many people will still have fun with Resonant who don’t mind the simpler combat (I expect to when I get time because I’m far from good at action games), but it doesn’t seem like it has the depth to meet his standards when there are so many good games on the schedule (and Resonant’s so long).
