All in all, I recommend reading it. I mean, I'd recommend playing the original game first, it's fantastic. I hope a new work related to "Gadget" comes out eventually, whether a fan work or official one. It's a fascinating universe of machines, dreams and control.

The novel itself is fast-paced, atmospheric, maintaining the air the original PC game had whilst focusing on the characters that were obscured previously, some who didn't appear in the game. It operates like a dream that turns into a nightmare in a dictated, doomed society.

And to hear my fav game Gadget's story was further split over artbooks and novels going into the mid-90's was exciting. The artbook, "Inside out of Gadget" fills in the blanks of the story that is then further expanded on in "The Third Force." (Cont..)

Also finished "The Third Force: A Novel of GADGET" by Marc Laidlaw (of Half-Life fame) and it's proved to be a nice surprise. I love the game Gadget and this book not only acts as a beautiful companion piece/novelisation but as a great work of apocalyptic dream-like sci-fi. Cont.

Beat Silent Hill: Townfall. I enjoyed this first playthrough, there's definitely much more to see. It's much more stealth-based than the usual SH affair and focuses more on a society than personal struggles. I was engaged throughout and am looking forward to NG+

I also ordered "The Third Force" by Marc Laidlaw which is a spin-off of "Gadget" so part of me will be satisfied reading more "Gadget" and seeing what his writing is like outside of dialog for "Half-Life"

I feel myself falling in love with "Gadget" again, it's similar to "The Last Express" in terms of being a train-game and having the illusion of being more open but still being "destined." It also just looks amazing... 🙂

It's a bit of a shame the VR space is DOA for the average person, the same games I played almost 6/8 years ago on my HTC Vive/Valve Index are still considered the platform's "hottest titles." I was hoping for this to be a shot in the arm but it seems unlikely at this price

I feel like I've fell out of love with Grasshopper Manufacture so hard 💔 the FSR patch debacle is depressing and I'm not a fan of PH51 then consequently being the sole "source" for info about these games to point that GhM prop em up. Can't help but see everything as sinister

I was also really surprised how funny this is, there's a couple of points where the opposing character either says something or creates something so earnestly that you can't help but laugh a bit. Overall, I really enjoyed the demo.

Thoughts now I've finished it; I remember playing the 2012 IMSCARED when it came out and it changing my view on games. to see it depicted as a museum piece sends all kinds of feelings to me; all being harnessed into a work on the horror of a life dedication to nostalgia... (1/3)
