Picked up @blambot.bsky.social's new SFX Brush Set, and quickly drew up these SFX using them for practice. All done by hand with my mouse as my brain cannot work with the delay & disconnect of my Wacom Bamboo. Another knock out resource for ANYONE who makes comics.

A bunch of hand drawn SFX, all done using Blambot's new SFX Brush set in Adobe Illustrator. There is a BOOM, PLINK, THUD, SQUEEEE, WUB WUB WUB, TINK, PING, PING and ZZZZIIIP.

I watched Backrooms last weekend, and really enjoyed it. The surreal, anxiety-inducing liminal space aspect was a refreshing alternative to the mediocre state of horror movies for the last couple of decades. I have not watched the YouTube series.

Update on the official Alex Toth font. The family and I are going through the revision process on the Regular version, making small adjustments. Here's a look in Fontlab. I've made it a point to keep as many of Toth's "habits" as possible; certain letters overlapping, etc.

3) I was pretty sure I was about to die. I couldn't tell the difference between up or down. I tumbled. My wife & mom would realize I wasn't coming back to the surface. They were going to witness my drowning. Somehow, I ended up with mt feet dragging on rock...

2) I took my eyes off the incoming surf for a second, and got hit by a big wave. I went down, and the undertow took me. I felt myself being drawn out to deeper water. I was dragged along the rocks at the bottom like a cheese grater, and curled into a ball to protect myself...

About 15 years ago, I nearly drowned. My mother was visiting from out of state and we decided to go to the beach. It was "off season" so no lifeguards and barely anyone there. I decided to have a swim while my wife and mom hung out on the beach...

Pet peeve at comic cons: booths that are blasting music for seemingly no other reason than a misguided attempt at attention-grabbing. Hard pass. Also, the exhibitors around you who have to contend with the noise interfering with communication, probably hate your guts.

I've been a fan of HBO's Tales from the Crypt since I was WAY too young to be watching when it first aired. The Crypt Keeper puppet is an iconic design. While I appreciate the massive effort to create a new puppet for AMC, the new sculpt (in comparison) isn't working for me. :(

My final guitar purchase of 2026: A Fender Custom Shop 1962 “Flamethrower” Stratocaster—lightweight ash body in Aged Cherry Sunburst. AAAA flamed maple neck w/ AAA rosewood fretboard. These are only made for Bizarre Guitars in Nevada.
