This is true and heartbreaking. I've heard similar from Holocaust survivors, as well.

Black and white Photo of Mikhail Baryshnikov, Legendary Russian- American dancer choreographer, and actor, and a quote from him.

"Forty two years ago I left a country that built walls to come to a place without them. But today, as a citizen of the United States, for the first time, I'm hearing rhetoric that reminds me of the Soviet Union of my youth, where it was a crime, and continues to be, a crime to be different."

You can click on their "followers" or "following" list, too I think. Not just the part that shows mutuals.

I feel like I've been commenting on other people's knitting without showing my own. Here's what I'm finishing up in preparation for Advent/Festive knitting season.

A collage of three knitting WIPs. Top: A lace shawl in a teal gradient. Bottom left: the cuff of a sock in red. Bottom right: the cuff (orange) and leg (variegated hues of orange, purples, and blues) of a sock.

Beautiful! I made an adult one for a friend recently.

A knitted hat in variegated yarn of blues, purples and oranges.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does the circled icon do?

Picture of the fourth icon from the left at the bottom of a post: line drawing that looks like an old-fashioned Out Box with an arrow pointing straight up from inside it. Icon is circled in red.
