November is Indigenous Heritage Month, and we hope as part of the (year-round!) honoring and celebrations, you'll enjoy the chorus of Native women's voices in UPON HER SHOULDERS. This anthology includes stories, essays, interviews, poems, and calls to action for justice, spirit, and community.
A book in a pile of fallen brown and red leaves. The book's cover has a cream background with the title "Upon Her Shoulders, Southeastern Native Women Share Their Stories of Justice, Spirit, and Community" edited by Mary Ann Jacobs, Cherry Beasley, and Ulrike Wiethaus. The top and bottom of the book have a yellow, red, and turquoise-colored design by Lumbee artist Jessica Clark.

I really enjoyed American Ending by Mary Kay Zuravleff, a historical novel based on the author’s family history. Set in the early 20th century, the book follows the American-born daughter of Russian immigrants as she tries to escape the working class coal mining community she was raised in.
The cover of American Ending by Mary Kay Zuravleff, showing the silhouette of a wolf standing on two legs in bright red against the background, with the title in black type that resembles medieval blackletter script.
